Nature of Work:
The goal of the Production Operation Intern is to learn what it takes to prop up a broadcast production. This position will place you into the group executing the daily needs of the overall department: helping in the studio on camera, logging content, assisting with production shoots and working on graphics. Behind the scenes operations covers a wide range of various technical aspects that are invaluable to the execution of all live broadcast events. In this role you will learn about the overall technical operations of the behind-the-scenes part of live television, giving you a wide array of knowledge about the business. By the end of the internship, it is the hope that you will feel like a part of the Production Operations team. Please note this position has emphasis on behind-the-scenes production work and not an on-air talent path. This position will be scheduled for 20 to 29 hours per week, some hours at Ball Arena and/or various production shooting locations, but many at the Network Operations Center in Centennial.
Examples of work performed:
  • Logging and attaching metadata information for Nuggets, Avalanche, Denver University, Air Force, and Mammoth game highlights
  • Learning studio production, its structure and then operation of camera, lighting, with the possibility of virtual graphics and social media posting.
  • Learning remote production and working with the Remote Production Coordinator while at the Ball Arena or other regional venues during game event nights.
  • Act as production assistant on shoots, possibly drone, at various locations at Ball Arena, Denver University, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and around Denver
  • Training on various broadcast level equipment in technical center and in the field
  • Creation of lower third ticker graphics for playout in Master Control
  • Sideline Parabolic microphone operation and/or production assistant duties will at a broadcast production.
  • General duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Minimum
    • Technical School or College in Broadcasting or related field
    • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Preferred
    • Experience or classwork related to broadcast production
