Job description

The Westbrook School Department is seeking an English Teacher at Westbrook High School for the school year 2026 - 2027 and beyond. 

Job Description 

Westbrook High School is seeking a creative, engaging and energetic English Language Arts teacher to join our English department for the upcoming school year. This is a full-time teaching position. The ideal candidate will have experience as a 9-12 English teacher, strong content knowledge, willingness to collaborate and share best practices with colleagues, and be skilled at working with all students. We are looking for a candidate with experience working with a team of educators to plan lessons, units and assessments. We also prefer a candidate who has experience working with special education and multilingual learners, skilled in differentiation, and the application of 21st Century teaching and learning strategies. Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with SEL and other holistic practices that help students access their academics and enrich their lives. Finally, this candidate should reflect a teacher whose academic strength is matched by a love of teaching and demonstrated range and flexibility to reach diverse students. 

About the School

Westbrook High School is proud to serve the City of Westbrook. Our learners represent 27 different countries of origin and speak over 15 languages other than English. The needs of individual learners are recognized and met through the work of our exemplary staff and diverse programming. We offer a wide range of extracurricular clubs, activities and athletic teams. Westbrook High School has become a springboard for students to join the military, enter the workforce or go onto college through relevant and rigorous coursework and the guidance of our Aspirations Counselor and Student Services Department.
