Job description

Summary
Responsible for all technical aspects, support, and advice before, during and after the overhaul, inspection, repair and installation of the below mentioned equipment. Includes but is not limited to troubleshooting, shop support, sales support, in office technical support, inspection form development, and technical report writing. Position reports directly to the field service operations manager.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Foster an environment of teamwork, compliance and continual improvement.
  • Adhere to the Company's objectives, i.e. Safety, Quality, Environmental and Information Security.
  • Ensure compliance with the Field Service department's standard operating procedures.
  • Involves, but is not limited to, advisory work on the below listed equipment and their respective components:
    • Centrifugal compressors
    • Steam turbines
    • Dry Seal Sealing Systems
    • ISO Carbon Seals
    • Lube Oil Systems/Consoles
    • Steam Sealing Systems
    • Condensers
    • Steam turbine controls
    • Servos
    • Valves
    • Pumps
    • Bearings
    • Seals (Wet & Dry)
    • Piping
  • Involves but is not limited to the following project related tasks:
    • Project Management
    • Detailed Technical Procedure Development
    • Project Plan Development/Review
    • Inspection Test Plan Development/Review
    • Inspection Record Form Development/Review

  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Requirements
  • Minimum high school and/or trade school graduate.
  • 10+ yrs. experience in rotating equipment and machinery (centrifugal compressor and steam turbine experience preferred).
  • 10+ yrs. experience in the refinery and petrochemical industry.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, and translate technical drawings.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word and Excel etc.), Adobe,
  • Intermediate or higher level of computer skills (email, internet etc.)
  • Expert in rotating equipment alignment (laser and dial indicator)
  • Must be willing to travel by air when required.
  • Must be willing to work night shift when required
  • Ability to travel up 75%. (Must be willing to report to Pearland Works facility when not traveling)
  • TWIC cardholder
  • Passport holder

Preferred Skills
  • Track record of success customer interactions
  • Experience with the installation, commissioning and start up of centrifugal compressors and steam turbines
  • Working knowledge of compressor and steam turbine control systems
  • Ability to resolve conflicts with customer and crews in a professional and non-confrontation manner
  • Experience developing technical procedures and/or Inspection Test Plans and correlating Inspection Record Forms

Physical Demands
  • Must be capable of climbing stairs to access compressor decks.
  • Ability to stand up for long period of time while supervising work.
  • Minor lifting of files and/or boxes < 5 lbs.
