Job description

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Electrical CAD Drafter in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location. This position is represented by (L2150).

Job Responsibilities

REPOST DUE TO 90 DAY TIME FRAME. PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT REAPPLY. 

Create New Drawings

  • Establish and lay out drawing views, sections, and details.
  • Create new drawings from sketches, photos, markups, site visits, personnel knowledge, and discussions with engineer and field personnel.
  • Check drawing for accuracy.
  • Provide input to engineer on design when needed.
  • Create material lists.

Revise Existing WE Drawings

  • Revise existing drawings from sketches, photos, markups, site visits, personnel knowledge, and discussions with engineer and field personnel.
  • Identify and revise related existing drawings.
  • Ensure drawing accuracy and integrity.
  • Interpret and apply design specifications.

Gather Information & On-Site Drafting Support

  • Assist customer in layout and design of equipment and structures.
  • Visit work sites, inspect equipment to verify existing information or to provide information to update and/or create drawings.
  • Make sketches when in the field.
  • Act as on-site “single point of contact” for drafting services.
  • Check layouts against company standards.
  • Contact manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers for information.

Maintain Drawing Record System

  • Assign system-based alpha/numeric codes to new drawings.
  • Re-code existing drawings.
  • Assign CGS file and microfilm numbers.
  • Update TRACE system.
  • Prepare print transmittals and reproduction requests for printing, microfilming, and distribution of drawings.

Project Management

  • Work on a project team to coordinate drafting concerns.
  • Prioritize and estimate project tasks.
  • Provide feedback to team leader and other team members.
  • Cross-checking team members’ work.
  • Perform role of project team leader.

Miscellaneous

  • Order and maintain drafting equipment and supplies.
  • Estimating resources and time to do a job.
  • Provide work direction and training to other drafters and contractors.
  • Provide graphic services as requested
Minimum Experience Required
  • Applicant must have one semester of algebra (or related technical math/college mathematics) and one semester of geometry (or related technical math level II/college mathematics level II) at the vocational or college level OR a two-year degree in either Electrical engineering, Civil engineering, or Architectural engineering.
  • Applicant must also have one of the following:  two years of current CAD drafting experience within the last five years OR one year of CAD drafting coursework at the vocational or college level plus one year of current CAD drafting experience within the last five years.  NOTE:  CAD drafting experience must consist of experience in creating or modifying drawings for construction.

Official transcripts are required and should be submitted at the time of your application; must be attached to application or provided to HR within ten (10) days of the posting closing date. If you do not have your transcripts, please take the necessary steps to be able to provide them prior to being scheduled for any testing.

Testing Requirements

Technician Selection System (TECH)-Drafter level: Ability to use numerical information presented in drawings, prints, and graphs to solve arithmetic problems, ability to use symbols and codes to locate objects on a map, comprehension of pictured mechanical principles, and the ability to read, apply rules and make decisions based upon written information.

Minimum Posting Range:  $24.62 

Maximum Posting Range:  $41.06 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
