Description

SAIC is seeking an experienced CAD Drafter to provide technical and engineering support in Crane, IN. This role involves the development of new drawings for systems, fixtures, and components, as well as the management and modification of existing drawings to incorporate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs). Additionally, this position requires the recreation of OEM drawings to incorporate ECPs when source files are unavailable.

The selected candidate will:

  • Create New Drawings and Designs: Design systems, fixtures, and components  with attention to mechanical and electrical integration.
  • Incorporate ECPs: Modify existing drawings to include Engineering Change Proposals and recreate original manufacturer drawings in cases where source files are not provided.
  • Conduct Quality Reviews: Perform detailed reviews of drawings created by other engineers, ensuring cost-effective manufacturability, compliance with standards, and overall accuracy.
  • Verify Standards Compliance: Ensure all drawings and designs adhere to industry standards, including ASMEIPC, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Drafting and Design Tools: Utilize industry-standard drafting and engineering design software to develop and edit detailed mechanical and electrical drawings, delivering final products in editable native electronic formats.

Collaborate with Team: Work closely with other engineers and project stakeholders to ensure successful design implementation and project execution

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess the following skills:

  • CAD Modeling/Drafting Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) modeling and drafting software.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T): Proficient experience with GD&T principles, ensuring accurate specifications and design interpretation.
  • Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with ASMEIPC, and other relevant standard sets for the creation and verification of mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • File Management and Practices: Skilled in preparing, reviewing, and managing drawings in native editable electronic formats, ensuring proper version control and traceability.
  • Drawing Quality Reviews: Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough quality reviews and make recommendations for design improvements regarding efficiency, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Solid Edge CAD software is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical and electrical system designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to recreate complex original equipment manufacturer (OEM) drawings in the absence of native files.

Clearance Requirements:

  • An Interim Secret clearance is required to start.
  • The candidate must have the ability to obtain and hold a finalized Secret clearance.
