Your impact

At Jacobs our Communications Systems Designers work on various projects, as assigned by organization leadership or Project Managers. This position will play a role in the entire design process including but not limited to preliminary assessments, concept creation, design, problem resolution, drawing and specification production, and construction administration.

Candidates must hold an active RCDD credential with proven experience in communications infrastructure design. An Electrical Engineering degree and PE license are preferred; candidates without a PE should possess strong technical knowledge of power requirements for communications systems, particularly rack and cabinet design and coordination.

The Communications Systems Designer will work on several concurrent projects. This is a remote/office hybrid position based in Austin, TX. Telecommute from anywhere within the US while working remotely with project teams nationwide.

  • Responsibilities include preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and review technical documents.
  • Will be responsible for completing project assignments with minimal supervision as well as directing to support staff to complete a project
Here's what you'll need
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • BICSI RCDD is required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of active communications systems for buildings is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (such as Excel, Word, and Outlook) is required.
  • Familiarity and demonstrated knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards required.
  • Familiarity with CSI Divisions 27 & 28 is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills are required.
  • HS Diploma, or equivalent is required.
  • Self-motivation to coordinate with other disciplines and customers is required.
  • Proficiency in communicating technical information to engineering and related staff.

Ideally, You'll also Have:

  • Experience with Revit software is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.

The base salary range for this position is $110,600.00 to $172,850.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
