Job description

About Marcurius Multi-Mission Solutions

Marcurius Multi-Mission Solutions is a fast-growing Defense technology company headquartered in Clearwater, Florida. Founded by US and UK veterans, Marcurius combines decades of frontline Special Operations and Intelligence experience with advanced engineering to deliver unmanned capabilities designed for real-world missions.

We are building a multi-domain, multi-platform, and mission-driven unmanned systems company, bringing together open-architecture systems, autonomy, resilient command-and-control, modular payloads, advanced manufacturing, and operator-led concepts of employment.

Our initial contracted focus includes advanced Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs), with a wider portfolio spanning aerial, surface, and subsurface autonomous systems. At the center of this approach is the Marcurius Multi-Domain Distributed Unmanned Effects (MDUE) framework, our common approach to connecting platforms, payloads, sensors, effectors, autonomy, data, and third-party systems across multiple domains.

    Role Overview

Marcurius is seeking an experienced Technical Data & Configuration Manager to establish and own the technical information and configuration-management framework supporting the MDUE family of unmanned systems.

This is not a traditional document-control position.

You will be the custodian of the Marcurius controlled technical baseline, ensuring that engineering drawings, CAD data, bills of material, wiring diagrams, interface definitions, software documentation, technical publications, test evidence, and associated engineering records are authoritative, traceable, configuration-controlled, and suitable for contractual delivery.

The role sits at the intersection of Systems Engineering, Configuration Management, Technical Data, Engineering Information Management, and Program Delivery. A major initial responsibility will be establishing the MDUE technical documentation architecture and managing technical data submissions supporting US Government programs, with a framework that can scale across surface, aerial, subsurface, and future unmanned platforms.

You will not be the design authority for every technical discipline. You will be responsible for ensuring that Marcurius always knows what was designed, what was built, what was tested, what changed, what was delivered, and which technical baseline defines it.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Establish and administer engineering change control, including Engineering Change Requests/Proposals, deviations, waivers, revision control, approvals, Configuration Control Boards, configuration status accounting, and change authorization.
    • Maintain traceability between requirements, configuration items, technical documentation, interfaces, verification evidence, and customer deliverables, ensuring documentation accurately reflects the as-designed, as-built, as-tested, and as-delivered configuration of each platform.
    • Coordinate the controlled release of CAD models, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, Interface Control Documents, software documentation, specifications, and test records, identifying and resolving inconsistencies between engineering disciplines and physical configurations.
    • Own the technical document register and engineering information structure, including numbering systems, metadata, naming conventions, approvals, revisions, permissions, and archival requirements.
    • Manage Interface Control Documents across mechanical, electrical, network, data, software/API, autonomy, payload, and command-and-control interfaces. Support Marcurius' Modular Open Systems Approach by ensuring modular boundaries, open interfaces, APIs, schemas, messaging structures, and third-party integration points are clearly defined and controlled.
    • Coordinate the preparation, review, approval, packaging, and formal release of contractual technical data submissions to US Government and other customers. Maintain an authoritative record of data delivered, including revision, configuration applicability, contractual requirement, and delivery date.
    • Maintain clear separation between Government-deliverable data, Marcurius proprietary information, third-party intellectual property, supplier-controlled information, and other restricted technical information.
    • Support technical and configuration audits, design reviews, production-readiness reviews, test-readiness reviews, and customer reviews.
    • Work across Engineering, Manufacturing, Test & Evaluation, Operations, Program Management, suppliers, and customers to maintain a coherent technical baseline and support prototype-to-production transition.
    • Establish practical technical-data standards, templates, procedures, and training that provide rigorous configuration control without creating unnecessary bureaucracy or slowing rapid engineering development.
    • Challenge incomplete, inconsistent, uncontrolled, or inadequately documented engineering work and drive corrective action with the relevant technical owners.
    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, systems engineering, configuration management, information management, or a related technical discipline; significant equivalent Defense or aerospace experience will also be considered.
    • 7+ years' experience in configuration management, technical data management, systems engineering support, engineering information management, or a closely related discipline within a complex engineering environment.
    • Demonstrated experience establishing or managing engineering configuration baselines for complex hardware/software systems.
    • Strong knowledge of engineering change management, configuration identification, status accounting, baseline management, revision control, and change authorization.
    • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering data, including CAD, drawings, BOMs, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, software records, interface documentation, and verification evidence.
    • Sufficient systems-engineering knowledge to understand and challenge relationships between requirements, architectures, interfaces, hardware, software, and verification.
    • Strong technical writing and information-structuring skills, with demonstrated ability to work across Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Systems, Manufacturing, Test, and Program Management teams.
    • Exceptional attention to detail, confidence to challenge insufficient configuration or documentation discipline, and ability to operate effectively within a fast-moving prototype and product-development environment.
    • Eligibility to work on US Defense programs and handle controlled technical information as required.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience supporting US Department of Defense programs and Government technical-data submissions, including Technical Data Packages, CDRLs, Data Item Descriptions, Government acceptance processes, and technical-data rights.
    • Knowledge of Modular Open Systems Approach principles, open-system architectures, Interface Control Documents, software APIs, data schemas, messaging structures, network architectures, and hardware/software integration.
    • Experience using Product Lifecycle Management, Product Data Management, Configuration Management, requirements-management, or engineering document-management systems.
    • Experience controlling both hardware and software configurations within autonomous systems, robotics, aerospace, maritime systems, Defense electronics, or complex mission systems.
    • Knowledge of intellectual-property markings, export controls, and Controlled Unclassified Information requirements.
    • Experience supporting prototype-to-production transition, formal configuration audits, or establishing a configuration-management or technical-data function within a growing engineering organization.
    • Relevant Configuration Management or Systems Engineering professional certification.
    Working Model

This role is based around our engineering and integration activities in Clearwater, Florida, and significant onsite presence will be critical during the initial establishment of the function.

The successful candidate will work directly with engineers, technicians, physical platforms, manufacturing activity, integration teams, and configuration-controlled hardware to establish and maintain the Marcurius technical baseline.

A hybrid working model may be considered for the right candidate once the role, systems, processes, and relationships have been successfully established. Travel may also be required for supplier visits, testing, customer engagements, and technical reviews.

    Why Marcurius

Marcurius is a people-first, execution-focused organization assembling a high-impact team of Engineers and Operators. We are building a multi-domain Defense technology company around a simple principle: autonomous systems must be designed around how they will actually be employed.

This role offers the opportunity to establish a foundational engineering capability within a rapidly growing company and directly influence how Marcurius controls engineering change, protects design integrity, enables open-system integration, delivers Government technical data, transitions prototypes into production, and scales a multi-domain family of unmanned systems.

    Equal Opportunity Employment

Marcurius Multi-Mission Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to building a diverse, mission-driven team and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable federal, state, or local law.

We strongly encourage applications from veterans and individuals with experience in Defense, aerospace, autonomous systems, maritime technology, and advanced engineering sectors.
