What is a technical content creator?

A technical content creator is a professional who produces clear and accurate content related to technical topics, such as software, hardware, or engineering. They often use tools like documentation software, video editing, and coding skills to communicate complex information effectively for technical audiences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Technical Content Creator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Technical Content Creator, you need strong writing and editing skills, a solid understanding of technical concepts, and experience with content management systems, often backed by a degree in communications, English, or a technical field. Familiarity with tools like Markdown, Adobe Creative Suite, and SEO platforms, as well as basic HTML or coding knowledge, is typically required. Outstanding research abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging content are crucial soft skills. These skills ensure that technical information is accurately communicated to diverse audiences, supporting product adoption and user satisfaction.

Technical Content Creators can earn $10,000 or more per month by producing high-quality technical articles, tutorials, or videos, often leveraging skills in writing, editing, and technical knowledge. Jobs requiring repetitive physical or cognitive tasks may be replaced by machines or software, while roles involving complex problem-solving and emotional intelligence are likely to persist. Technical Content Creators will continue to evolve, focusing on skills like multimedia production and AI integration rather than routine tasks.

How does a Technical Content Creator typically collaborate with subject matter experts and engineering teams?

Technical Content Creators work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), such as engineers and product managers, to accurately translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging content. This collaboration often involves conducting interviews, attending technical meetings, and reviewing documentation to ensure accuracy. Job description

About Us

We're a fast-growing, science-driven personal care company based in Brooklyn, operating out of a fully equipped R&D laboratory near DUMBO. Our team develops advanced actives and materials that are used by the largest beauty brands, with a focus on suncare - and now we're looking for a curious, energetic communicator to help translate complex science into fun, accessible, and highly engaging content.

If you love the intersection of chemistry, beauty, storytelling, and nerdy details, you'll thrive here.

The Role

We're looking for a Content Creator specializing in Scientific Concepts in Personal Care - someone who can take deep, technical topics and turn them into clear, compelling content for a broad audience.

This is a hands-on, in-person position inside our lab, perfect for someone who gets excited by ingredients , experiments, textures, and behind-the-scenes product development.

You'll create content such as:

  • Ingredient deep dives (what they are, how they work, why they matter)

  • Reviewing popular products on the market

  • Science explainers on product safety, formulations, claims, and technologies

  • "Myth-busting" segments

  • Lab walkthroughs, experiments, and demonstrations

  • Educational pieces for both consumers and industry followers

This role is ideal for someone who is:

  • A bit of a science nerd

  • Loves details and accuracy

  • Has natural charisma and energy on camera

  • Feels comfortable talking to people and presenting in front of groups

  • Passionate about beauty, skincare, haircare, and personal care products

    Responsibilities
    • Create video and social content explaining scientific and technical concepts

    • Collaborate with our lab team to script, storyboard, and film educational pieces

    • Turn complex formulation science into engaging, easy-to-understand storytelling

    • Research ingredients, regulations, safety profiles, and trending topics

    • Film on-site in our Brooklyn laboratory

    • Maintain a consistent, educational, and fun tone across platforms

    • Represent the brand with clarity, curiosity, and authenticity

    Requirements
    • Strong communication and on-camera presence with the ability to work independently

    • Experience in TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, or similar content platforms

    • Graphic design, editing, or content production skills

    • Passion for personal care, cosmetics, and beauty science

    • Ability to simplify and explain complex ideas clearly

    • Portfolio or links to previous content (not necessarily in beauty - any style or genre accepted)

    • Science or technical degree is a plus but not required

    • Must be able to work in person 1-2 days per week in our Brooklyn lab

Compensation & Unique Perk

There is an hourly rate. Also*** creators who are entrepreneurial or interested in developing their own beauty products will have access to a state-of-the-art lab, with the ability to work on personal projects and receive guidance from industry veterans with deep formulation and business experience.

This is a rare opportunity to build out your brand concept while learning from professionals at the cutting edge of cosmetic science.
