Job Summary

The Senior Consulting Technologist will be responsible for offering expert advice and guidance on transfusion services, addressing both technical and regulatory matters for laboratories within a specified area. This role involves collaboration with enterprise laboratory committees and established clients to implement standardized process improvements. The individual will assist laboratory management in preparing for inspections related to accreditation from various organizations, including the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), COLA, AABB, and the Joint Commission, among others.

A comprehensive understanding of general laboratory operations, healthcare practices, and management principles is essential. Building and nurturing relationships to maintain the client base is crucial. The ideal candidate will exhibit patience, kindness, and a cooperative spirit with both clients and colleagues. Travel to different laboratory sites may be required based on facility needs and leadership discretion. This position may also involve fulfilling roles such as Qualified Laboratory Director, Technical Supervisor, and Technical Consultant as necessary, and the individual must meet the qualifications to perform duties assigned by the CLIA Laboratory Director.

This role is based in Marshfield, WI, and will support laboratories within the Sanford Health - Marshfield Region. Responsibilities include overseeing methods and instrument performance, quality control, result reporting, problem-solving, evaluating new methods and instruments, conducting research and development, planning and implementation, analyzing quality control statistics, providing technical education to staff, and other tasks as assigned within the Transfusion Services discipline.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialist certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), specifically SBB - Specialist in Blood Banking.
  • Travel requirements may vary based on departmental needs.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related scientific field is mandatory.
  • Five years of laboratory experience in a hospital or clinic setting is preferred, along with three years of experience in laboratory leadership or as a consulting technologist.
  • Registration as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society of Laboratory Science through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency is required. For those working in North Dakota, licensure by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice is necessary.
