Job Summary
Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Communications Specialist. As a Senior Communications Specialist, you will play a crucial role in driving the effectiveness, adoption and continuous improvement of Caterpillar's communications technology ecosystem, with a primary focus on Cat@work (Unily CMS). The position supports technology that allows communications professionals to independently and effectively deliver targeted, high-quality communications.
What You Will Do:
Cat@work Administration & Optimization
  • Serve as a core member of the Cat@work admin team, maintaining strong platform expertise and governance alignment
  • Provide day-to-day support, troubleshooting and coaching for CMS users
  • Lead ongoing optimization of Cat@work, including:
    • Site structure, content experience and usability improvements
    • Governance standards, permissions and best practices
  • Oversee creation and management of read access (RA), security, and targeting groups
  • Support platform enhancements and long-term roadmap execution in partnership with the Cat@work Product Owner
  • Manage Unily release planning, testing and implementation support
  • Lead Cat@work-level reporting and analytics (site performance, usage, adoption)
    • Provide recommendations based on analytics to improve intranet experience
    • Partner with the AI & Impact Lead role for deeper analytics and enterprise-wide reporting

Communications Technology Leadership
  • Lead and support additional key communications tools and platforms, including:
    • Broadcast Center (internal email platform) adoption and usage
    • Grammarly enterprise management
  • Serve as a connector between communications needs and technical capabilities, translating business requirements into scalable platform solutions
  • Partner with IT, Digital Workplace, and platform vendors to align configurations, integrations, and enhancements

Platform Enablement & Capability Building
  • In partnership with the Cat@work Product Owner and Integrated Communications team, drive adoption and effective use of communications tools through:
    • Training sessions, workshops and office hours
    • Playbooks, templates and governance resources
    • Ongoing coaching and user support
  • Lead CMS user upskilling and training aligned to Cat@work best practices
  • Partner with Integrated Communications and other teams to improve:
    • Planning discipline (shift from reactive to proactive)
    • Audience strategy and segmentation
    • Intentional channel usage

What You Have:
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in communications, with demonstrated work in website management or communications strategy.
