Job description

Technical Buyer / Procurement Specialist Buffalo, NY area The Technical Buyer supports procurement operations within a capital equipment manufacturing environment, managing the sourcing of engineered components and services. This role ensures alignment with project cost, quality, and delivery objectives while maintaining compliance with applicable technical standards and specifications. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate supplier activities and resolve issues impacting project performance Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with engineering requirements and industry codes Manage project cost and delivery targets through effective supplier coordination and material tracking Source, evaluate, and qualify suppliers; obtain quotations; and issue purchase orders with consideration for cost, quality, safety, and schedule Maintain production schedules, manufacturing orders, and shortage reports to support operations Monitor supplier performance, including quality and on-time delivery; address delays and shipment issues Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), including corrective actions, returns, rework, and back charges Lead supplier negotiations, cost-reduction initiatives, and preferred supplier agreements Support contract development and supplier onboarding Identify and implement process improvements to mitigate supply chain and project risks Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures Qualifications Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or 7+ years of relevant technical experience Minimum 5 years of experience in capital equipment manufacturing Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings; familiarity with ASME, PED, and related industry codes Strong ERP experience; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Project, and other business applications (SAP preferred) Proven negotiation skills and experience presenting to senior leadership Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Compensation & Requirements Salary: $90,000 โ€“ $100,000 Background check and drug screening required GCR is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
