Job Description
AECOM's Water Business Line is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Project Manager/Technical Lead in Conveyance to lead our growing Pipeline Design Practice, with a home base in New England. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated team member to work on a variety of water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater treatment and conveyance projects as a Technical Lead. It is expected that this role will provide support to projects throughout the Northeast US. The position is flexible between our Boston MA, Chelmsford MA, Rocky Hill CT or Providence RI office and is a hybrid position.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in large diameter conveyance pipelines for water, wastewater, and/or stormwater design, analysis, installation, inspection, and leak detection in dense urban settings. The preferred candidate will be energetic and have a proven ability to lead a team of engineers and designers to deliver successful projects.

You will interact throughout AECOM and externally with clients to conceptualize and develop conveyance infrastructure that is reliable, sustainable, and resilient. You will be involved in all phases of the project delivery and will be engaged in assessing industry trends and participate in professional organizations for marketing, industry recognition, and networking opportunities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead a team of engineers and designers in the design and engineering of large diameter pipeline projects from conception to completion
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure successful project delivery
  • Develop and review design and construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Evaluate and improve the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria and systems for conveyance projects
  • Prepare engineering reports and technical studies such as Basis of Design report and technical memorandums to support project delivery
  • Conduct field inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with design standards and regulations
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff
  • Assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule
  • Stay current on industry trends and advancements in pipeline design and engineering
  • Assess trends in the marketplace, lead strategy, and assist proposal development with support from local and national staff to capture expanded suite of services AECOM can offer clients
  • Travel to other offices as well as to project sites may be required

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • BA/BS in civil, mechanical, or related engineering degree, and 8+ years of related experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with design, analysis, installation, inspection, leak detection and management of conveyance projects in urbanized, congested areas.
  • Experience with the design of water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure 18-inches in diameter and larger.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of extensive project experience in municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater large diameter pipeline design, analysis, installation, inspection, leak detection, and management in design within dense urban settings.
  • Master's degree in civil, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline design codes, standards, and regulations
  • Pipeline condition assessment and rehabilitation experience.
  • Understanding of construction methods, such as open-cut and trenchless (micro tunneling, jack and bore, etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure.
  • Licensed PE in the state of MA, CT, or RI, or ability to obtain.
  • Strong communication skills in coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives.
  • Self-motivated, requiring minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrated understanding of various methods and technologies to perform assessment and design of large diameter pipeline systems.
  • Proven excellent leadership skills and demonstrated ability to successfully work in diverse teams.
