Job description

Job Details:Job Description:

Intel is an industry leader and a catalyst for technology innovation and products that revolutionize the way we live. Our purpose is to create world-changing technology that improves the life of every person on the planet. Intel is in the midst of a transformational journey to deliver on its ambitious strategy, which includes significant manufacturing expansions and the creation of a foundry to serve internal and external customers, while focusing on our technology leadership on process and product development.

The Revenue and Rebate Technical Accounting Manager is a technical accounting and accounting policy role within the Revenue Rebates Global Process Organization (GPO). This position serves as a subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP revenue recognition, with primary responsibility for applying, interpreting, and advising on ASC 606 for complex, non standard revenue and rebate arrangements.

The role partners closely with Accounting, Finance, Sales, Legal, and Systems teams to evaluate contracts, assess accounting conclusions, and provide judgment based guidance on revenue recognition, variable consideration, rebates, price adjustments, and contract modifications. The position plays a critical advisory role in supporting business decisions, ensuring accounting outcomes are compliant, consistent, and well documented for internal and external stakeholders, including auditors.

In addition to deep technical accounting expertise, the role embraces modern transformation as an enabler of stronger accounting outcomes. This includes influencing and partnering on scalable solutions, such as AI or LLM based tools, that assist in contract analysis, identification of ASC 606 risks, and consistent application of accounting guidance. The role does not own IT delivery but translates accounting policy and judgment requirements into clear, actionable needs for technology and data partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Accounting and Policy Leadership

  • Serve as a technical accounting expert for Revenue and Rebate accounting under ASC 606, providing authoritative guidance on complex and non routine transactions, including long term agreements, deposits, rebates, price concessions, and contract modifications.

  • Interpret U.S. GAAP and develop, maintain, and review accounting policy positions, whitepapers, and technical memos to support revenue and rebate conclusions.

  • Evaluate accounting implications of complex contractual terms, including performance obligations, variable consideration, options, customer acceptance, and timing of revenue recognition.

Contract Review and Deal Consultation

  • Review customer contracts, and amendments to identify accounting implications and areas of judgment under ASC 606.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Sales, Finance, Legal, and Product and Foundry teams during deal structuring and negotiation, ensuring accounting considerations are understood and appropriately reflected.

  • Lead or support accounting consultations, documenting conclusions and coordinating reviews with external auditors (EY) where applicable.

  • Revenue and Rebate Judgment

  • Provide judgment on rebate arrangements, pricing adjustments, funding arrangements, and other forms of variable consideration to determine appropriate revenue versus contra expense treatment.

  • Ensure consistent interpretation and application of revenue and rebate guidance across products, customers, and geographies.

  • Identify and escalate matters requiring broader policy alignment or executive visibility.

Transformation Enablement (Accounting Led)

  • Partner with Systems, Data, and Technology teams to translate accounting policy and judgment requirements into scalable enablement solutions.

  • Contribute accounting expertise to initiatives leveraging AI or LLM based tools to analyze contracts and transactional data for ASC 606 risks and accounting implications.

  • Help define accounting driven requirements, controls, and outputs for automated or semi automated revenue analysis tools, while maintaining audit ready documentation and oversight.

Stakeholder and Audit Engagement

  • Serve as a key point of contact for external audit discussions related to revenue and rebate accounting conclusions.

  • Support management inquiries, executive reviews, and internal control considerations related to revenue recognition policy and application.

  • Provide coaching and technical guidance to accounting teams to strengthen ASC 606 acumen across the organization.

Behavioral Competencies

  • Technical Credibility and Judgment: Demonstrates confidence and sound judgment in applying complex accounting guidance to ambiguous fact patterns.

  • Consultative Mindset: Approaches stakeholders as a trusted advisor, balancing technical rigor with practical business understanding.

  • Clarity and Influence: Communicates complex accounting concepts clearly to non accounting audiences and influences outcomes through logic and evidence.

  • Intellectual Curiosity: Stays current on evolving accounting guidance and emerging technologies that enhance accounting analysis.

  • Ownership and Accountability: Takes responsibility for driving issues to resolution while maintaining high standards of precision and documentation.

  • Collaboration: Works effectively across Accounting, Finance, Sales, Legal, Systems, and Audit to achieve compliant and scalable accounting outcomes.

Qualifications:

You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Relevant experience can be obtained through schoolwork, classes, project work, internships, and/or military experience. This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • CPA (or equivalent professional certification).

  • 6+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting, revenue recognition, or accounting policy roles.

  • Expertise in U.S. GAAP, with hands on experience applying ASC 606 to complex transactions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing customer contracts and providing formal accounting conclusions supported by authoritative guidance.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing accounting memos and engaging with auditors.

  • Experience supporting revenue and rebate accounting in complex, global, or technology driven business models.

  • Prior interaction with external auditors on ASC 606 interpretations and judgmental areas.

  • Exposure to accounting policy enablement through systems, analytics, or AI assisted contract review tools.
