The Manager - Melt Technology will lead the Melt Technology team in Bakers Operations with responsibility to manage the team's performance toward building and sustaining titanium melting process compliance and driving departmental continuous improvement.
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing process engineering team. Make developmental plans, hiring decisions, and assign resources as required to drive performance, create succession, and build depth.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to teammates and external audiences scaling from operators to functional leadership and customers.
  • Drive technical advancement and continuous improvement activities, including melt process qualifications, within the group.
  • Support best practice transfer within SM melt facilities and across to adjacent BU melt facilities.
  • Collaborate with technical leadership to bring tactical definition to functional organizational strategy
Minimum Job Requirements: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)
Education Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field
Experience Required
  • 6-year minimum experience in metallurgical processing of Ni or Ti based alloys
Preferred Experience or Qualifications (in addition to Minimum Requirements)
  • MS or PhD Degree
  • Experience in technical or operations leadership is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities typically required to perform the essential functions of this job.
Knowledge of:
  • Knowledge of nickel and steel alloy melt processing
  • Knowledge of ATI processes, objectives, and operations.
  • Understanding of statistical process control, continuous improvement methodologies, and problem-solving approaches via the scientific method.
Skilled in:
  • Excellent people skills, including interpersonal verbal and written communication.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Organizational agility to work across departments, plant sites, and business units to develop and execute technical development projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management and prioritization skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven leadership skills to effectively guide and develop team members.

  • Motivate a highly skilled technical team with a range of education and experience.
