Job description

Labcorp is seeking a Senior Manager, HR Technology(Workday Security) for a team in Durham, NC.

The Senior Manager, HR Technology (Workday Security) is a key member of the HR Technology team, requiring deep technical expertise in Workday's security framework. This role is responsible for ensuring secure, compliant, and scalable access to Workday applications; aligning access across other HR technology tools; and enabling and supporting enterprise business transformation initiatives. The Senior Manager will partner closely with HR, IT, and cross-functional business stakeholders to deliver a best-in-class Workday security model aligned to organizational policies and regulatory requirements and best practice.

The ideal candidate is both a strategic leader and hands-on subject matter expert (SME) in Workday Security, with strong knowledge of compliance, segregation of duties (SoD), and SOX controls. This role requires demonstrated leadership capability to manage and develop a team of analysts while driving accountability, performance, and continuous improvement. The primary objective is to lead the ongoing maintenance, governance, and optimization of the Workday Security framework, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance controls, streamline processes, and improve the overall user experience.

This role balances operational excellence ("run and maintain") with innovation and continuous improvement initiatives in support of Labcorp's People Strategy. The Senior Manager will oversee the existing security framework while driving enhancements and delivering new functionality. This includes analyzing user needs, translating business requirements into scalable solutions, and leading efforts across design, configuration, testing, and deployment. The role is critical in ensuring efficient, secure, and user-centric processes that support a high-performing, modern HR technology ecosystem.

Work Schedule:This is a fulltime, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone.Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.

Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location, either Burlington or Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for Workday security architecture, driving best practices, governance, and continuous improvement across frameworks, tools, and processes.

  • Lead the design or revision of Workday security, implementation, and maintenance, including all security group types and Domain/Business Process Security Policies; perform regular inter- and intra-group conflict reviews to mitigate access risks and enforce segregation of duties (SoD).

  • Oversee access management lifecycle processes (provisioning, de-provisioning, and role assignments) and lead security support for new modules, enhancements, and releases.

  • Establish and maintain strong security governance, partnering with Audit and Compliance to ensure adherence to SOX, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements; own HR technology's quarterly and annual user access reviews and certifications.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate security risks, including SoD conflicts and unauthorized access, while driving scalable, compliant solutions aligned with business needs.

  • Manage day-to-day Workday security operations, ensuring timely case resolution, effective service delivery, and adherence to SLAs.

  • Assess current Workday framework against evolving business structing and functional changes and build, test, and deploy new model, where appropriate.

  • Administer and/or advise on security matters for all applications within the HR Tech stack.

  • Balance competing priorities while driving continuous improvement and integration across Workday and related systems.

  • Lead team operations within ServiceNow, using data and metrics to monitor performance, ensure high customer satisfaction, and communicate outcomes.

  • Attract, develop, and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and engagement.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship across the HR Technology function, promoting knowledge sharing and capability development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5 or more years' of experience supporting Workday

  • 4 or more years' executing functional configuration in Workday Security

  • 3 or more years' of leadership or people management experience

Additional Job Standards:

  • Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into system configuration and workflows.

  • Experience partnering with compensation and total rewards teams on merit, bonus, and equity planning.

  • Experience managing a technical team.

  • Workday Core PRO certification preferred.

  • Experience in all phases of the technology implementation lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, building, testing, and launch)

  • Experience in leading design sessions, reviewing, and assisting in the creation of project deliverables.

  • Have a delivery-focused mindset, high energy and drive and the ability to achieve results through others.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills - able to translate between technical and business groups, bring forward a vision or opinion.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with ability to design and develop solutions to meet business needs creatively.

  • Comfort with leading multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritize decisions and tasks effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
