Job description

Doherty Career Solutions is partnering with a local St. Cloud, MN company as they search to find a contract 6+ month temp Paralegal to join the thriving team. The contract Paralegal will support business needs and administrative tasks. This position is fully onsite M-F standard business hours and pay will range $25.00-30.00 per hour depending upon experience. Position Overview:
  • Selects, maintains, and recommends purchases for the library’s collection of legal reference materials, including electronic legal databases; Reviews reference collection periodically to identify gaps and to remove outdated material. Select and maintain various pamphlets and booklets including self-help materials.
  • Conduct customer interviews to determine user’s needs/requests for legal reference and legal research services; Identify and provide legal research titles and resources to meet the customer’s needs; determine availability of information sought within the library and provide referral to the State Law Library or other outside resources for materials not maintained within the library.
  • Provide instruction to customers on the effective use of legal resources, library facilities, and equipment including WESTLAW and print.
  • Provide court forms and instructions to self-represented litigants and assist in completion of the forms; assist in the completion and review of pleadings; assist in answering discovery requests.
  • Provide self-represented litigants information about court processes, practice, and procedure; answer general questions about family law and other issues and how to proceed with such issues; explain options within and outside of the court system,
  • Educate self-represented litigants about available pro bono legal services; low cost legal services, legal aid programs, lawyer referral services, legal resources provided by state or other legal libraries, and information about mediation services.
  • Educate customers, including self-represented litigants,? on how to access and print court records through the MNCIS computer terminals, electronically file forms and supporting documentation and exhibits in their cases and to appear for remote court hearings using the libraries facilities.
  • Departments and community groups to meet the needs of residents navigating the civil or criminal justice system.
  • Monitors library computers, printers, scanners, and other technology to ensure they are in proper working order; initiates work orders with County IT or outside vendors for repair or service of library equipment and monitors work to completion.?
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Two-Year Degree with paralegal certificate.? Relevant experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or court operations associate.?
