This includes ensuring the uptime and reliability of servers, networks, and other IT systems, as well as troubleshooting technical issues as they arise. Tech Ops teams often collaborate with development and security teams to implement upgrades, monitor system performance, and support business-critical applications. Their work is essential for minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in a technology-driven environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Tech Ops professional?

To thrive as a Tech Ops professional, you need a solid understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, system administration, and troubleshooting, often supported by a degree in computer science or related certifications like CompTIA, AWS, or Cisco. Familiarity with monitoring tools (such as Nagios or Datadog), ticketing systems, and automation scripts is typically expected. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you proactively manage incidents and collaborate with teams.
