What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Tech Event Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tech Event Manager, you need expertise in event planning, project management, and a solid understanding of the technology industry, often supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with event management software, virtual event platforms, and CRM systems is essential, and certifications like CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) can be advantageous. Outstanding communication, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability help you manage stakeholders, vendors, and unforeseen challenges effectively. These skills ensure seamless event execution, foster strong industry relationships, and maximize attendee engagement in a dynamic tech landscape.

What does a Tech Event Manager do?

A Tech Event Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing events focused on technology, such as conferences, trade shows, product launches, and workshops. Their duties include coordinating logistics, managing budgets, securing speakers, overseeing event promotion, and ensuring a seamless attendee experience. They often work closely with vendors, sponsors, and internal teams to deliver successful events that highlight technological innovations and foster networking opportunities. Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills are essential for this role.

How does a Tech Event Manager typically collaborate with technical and non-technical teams during the planning process?

A Tech Event Manager works closely with both technical teams—such as IT support, AV specialists, and software developers—and non-technical teams like marketing, logistics, and vendor relations. Effective collaboration involves regular meetings, clear communication of event requirements, and coordination of timelines to ensure technical needs like live streaming, app integration, and Wi-Fi are seamlessly incorporated. The ability to bridge the gap between these groups is crucial for a successful event, ensuring that all technical aspects align with the overall event objectives and attendee experience.

Job description

Experience Without Limits. Come shape the future of brand experience.

At Jack Morton, we create, and build, head-turning, smile-inducing, impact driving brand experiences. We exist to redefine what experiential can achieve, helping clients unlock the full value of experiences.

That takes a team that's bold, curious, and acts as one - building on ideas, pushing boundaries, and showing up for each other. Here, you'll do your best work, grow fast, and collaborate across clients, disciplines, and global teams to bring new ideas to life.

This is a place where curiosity drives what's next, boldness raises the bar, and we win together. Where ownership is expected, egos are left at the door, and the work reflects the people behind it.

Experience without limits — in your work, your growth, and your impact.

We're looking for a dynamic Senior Event Manager to lead the creation and execution of high-impact brand experiences. In this role, you'll take full ownership of events—from big-picture strategy and creative development to flawless on-site delivery and insightful post-event analysis.

As a key member of the Meetings & Events team, you'll collaborate closely with Account, Creative, Strategy, and Production partners to bring ideas to life and deliver experiences that exceed client expectations. You'll manage multiple programs simultaneously, oversee vendors and partners, control budgets, and serve as a trusted leader throughout every stage of the process.

What You'll Do

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of live and hybrid events, including trade shows, exhibitions, conferences, and experiential programs
  • Turn client goals into compelling event concepts and actionable plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and production schedules while negotiating with suppliers, venues, and service providers to maximize value
  • Oversee all event logistics, including registration, travel, accommodations, shipping/receiving, and on-site operations
  • Lead on-site execution, ensuring a seamless experience and exceptional results for clients and attendees
  • Analyze program performance and identify opportunities to optimize future events and drive growth
  • Mentor junior team members and collaborate effectively with internal staff and freelance partners

What You Bring

  • 6–8+ years of experience managing complex live events, trade shows, or experiential programs (agency experience is a plus)
  • Proven ability to manage projects from initial concept through execution, balancing multiple workstreams and stakeholders
  • Strong client-facing communication skills with confidence in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated success managing budgets, vendors, and tight timelines in fast-paced environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing events with both U.S. and global components
  • Exposure to industries such as life sciences, technology, automotive, or B2B marketing
  • Familiarity with emerging trends in experiential marketing, attendee engagement, and event technology
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CMP) are a plus

Skills & Strengths

  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail with a client-first mindset
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Proactive problem-solving and operational excellence
  • Proficiency with event platforms, digital tools, and event technology
