Title:
Corporate Controller
We are KBR
At KBR, we partner with clients to provide purposeful and comprehensive science, technology and engineering solutions to governments as well as the top tier commercial clients in green hydrogen and green ammonia. With a full portfolio of services, proprietary technologies and expertise, our approximately 37,000 employees are ready to handle projects and missions throughout their entire lifecycle, from planning and design to sustainability and maintenance.
Whether at the bottom of the ocean or in outer space, our clients trust us to deliver the impossible on a daily basis.
As the needs of the world change, we're ready to respond and guide the way forward with strategic, sustainable, and technological advancements grounded in more than a century of practical application and execution.
About the Role
KBR is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Corporate Controller. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), this role leads corporate accounting, financial planning, and reporting for company-wide cost elements and corporate functions, while partnering closely with senior executives.
The Corporate Controller is responsible for the planning, accounting, and presentation of financial results related to corporate activities, including debt, pensions, dividends, benefits, intercompany, foreign exchange, hedging, interest rate swaps, tax, and other key areas.
This role ensures all financial planning, accounting, and reporting activities are executed timely, accurately, and in compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal control requirements. The Corporate Controller also maintains a strong control environment and drives standardization, automation, and process discipline across the enterprise to enhance efficiency, scalability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning, Close Execution & Reporting: Lead a combined team of accounting and planning professionals to deliver accurate and timely budgets, forecasts, and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
    • Oversee period-end close activities across a multi-ERP and consolidation environment (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Deltek Costpoint, Oracle FCCS/EPM), ensuring coordination across dependencies, adherence to SOX controls, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
    • Deliver detailed variance analysis (plan vs. actuals and period-over-period) and develop clear, executive-level reporting and dashboards.
    • Own corporate SG&A and non-SG&A budgeting and reforecasting to support accurate Adjusted EBITDA and cash flow reporting.
  • Balance Sheet Governance:
    • Establish and maintain ownership, reconciliation standards, and fluctuation analysis for corporate balance sheet accounts.
    • Partner with corporate functional teams to monitor balances, ensure accuracy, and assess impacts on operating cash flow.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Promote and maintain a strong internal control environment, including SOX/ICFR design, documentation, execution, and remediation. Ensure all processes and supporting documentation meet audit standards and comply with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., FAR, CAS where applicable).
  • Corporate Programs & Liabilities: Oversee accounting and financial planning for key corporate programs and liabilities, including employee benefits, pensions, leases (ASC 842), deferred compensation, fixed assets, debt, hedging activities, insurance programs, IT investments, and other corporate reserves.
  • Corporate Allocations: Ensure transparency, accuracy, and traceability of corporate costs allocated across the organization, with clear communication to stakeholders.
  • Audit Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for external and internal auditors. Coordinate audit deliverables, manage PBC requests, and drive timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Process Improvement & Automation: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to standardize processes, accelerate close cycles, enhance controllership quality, and reduce manual effort through automation.
  • Systems & Data: Partner with Finance Systems and IT to enhance data integrity, system controls, and reporting capabilities. Support system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements, including UAT, testing, and change management.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with stakeholders across the enterprise to ensure financial planning and accounting outcomes are aligned with business operations and strategic objectives.
  • Documentation & Governance: Maintain and enhance standard operating procedures (SOPs), close calendars, and reporting templates to support consistency, scalability, and audit readiness.
  • People Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of accounting and planning professionals. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • CPA or equivalent strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and controllership experience, including leadership responsibility for close processes and balance sheet governance
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls (SOX/ICFR), with demonstrated audit readiness and documentation discipline
  • Proven experience leading period-end close, account reconciliation processes, and variance/fluctuation analysis
  • Experience applying sound judgment in accounting estimates, reserves, and complex accounting decisions
  • Experience supporting corporate programs such as employee benefits, pensions, deferred compensation, and insurance-related reserves
  • Proficiency with financial systems and tools, including ERP platforms (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Deltek Costpoint), consolidation tools (Oracle FCCS/EPM), Workiva, Excel, and Power BI
  • Demonstrated experience driving process improvements, automation, and finance transformation initiatives
  • Experience supporting ERP or consolidation system implementations or upgrades

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
Benefits: KBR offers a selection of competitive lifestyle benefits which could include a 401K plan with company match, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, flexible spending account, disability, paid time off, or flexible work schedule. We support career advancement through professional training and development.
