If you've ever wondered what owning your own business is like, just ask an Employee Owner of Chatsworth Products (CPI). Better yet, become one! CPI has an immediate need for a Production Associate for our Paint Line on our Weekend shift (Fri/Sat/Sun) in CPI's New Bern, N.C. location.
As a CPI Production Associate , you will occupy a key role in working with and for a company that builds the physical infrastructure that powers, protects and secures the world's digital technology. Day to day, you will be responsible for many essential functions. Responsible for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost in assigned production area. May assist in the transition of new products into manufacturing. Assists operators by answering questions and demonstrating operations. Spot checks products to ensure quality levels are maintained.
JOB SUMMARY:
Sets up and operates equipment to coat products with powder base paint.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Under minimal supervision, sets up powder coat and related equipment to exacting specifications and prepares equipment for production.
  2. Ensures that items are properly hung on conveyor hooks. Hangs and removes parts from hooks when parts are not available to powder coat.
  3. Inspects and maintains equipment for compliance with safety requirements, including but not limited to, all guarding. Corrects any safety issue prior to operating the equipment.
  4. Inspects coated items for coverage and tests for coating thickness. Resolves quality and mechanical problems, making minor repairs and equipment adjustments, as needed.
  5. Prepares parts for rework and applies powder to correct coating defects.
  6. Works from schedules and specifications.
  7. Assists and trains parts hangers in preparing and hanging parts for powder coat operation.

Technical Competencies:
  • Good mechanical skills including the use of hand tools.
  • Good troubleshooting skills such that after a reasonable training period, the employee will be able to evaluate operational problems of the equipment and know the proper corrective actions.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment operating, maintenance, and troubleshooting manuals

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Frequent standing, walking, carrying, lifting, stooping, and crouching
  • Work with powder coat materials and cleaning chemicals
  • Lift 40 lbs.
