Varsity Girls Volleyball Head Coach
Position Overview
Dearborn Advanced Technology Academy (ATA) is seeking an experienced, passionate, and
student-focused Varsity Girls Volleyball Head Coach to lead and develop our high school
volleyball program. The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the Varsity and Junior Varsity
Girls Volleyball programs, supervise assistant coaches, and foster a culture centered on
academic excellence, athletic achievement, leadership, discipline, teamwork, and
sportsmanship.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building a competitive volleyball program while
ensuring student-athletes develop the skills necessary to succeed both on the court and in the
classroom.
Qualifications
? Previous volleyball coaching experience at the high school level or higher required.
? Knowledge of Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules and regulations.
? Proven ability to teach volleyball fundamentals, game strategies, sportsmanship,
leadership, and discipline.
? Experience working with students in an educational setting.
? Current coaching certifications required by MHSAA and ATA, or ability to obtain prior to
employment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
? Strong understanding of volleyball systems, offensive and defensive strategies, player
development, and conditioning methods.
? Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
? Ability to motivate student-athletes and foster a positive, disciplined, and inclusive team
culture.
? Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, and community
stakeholders.
? Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and general computer applications.
? Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
? Commitment to ATA's mission of academic and athletic excellence.
Responsibilities
The Varsity Girls Volleyball Head Coach will:
? Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball
Programs.
? Develop and implement practice plans, game strategies, skill development sessions,
conditioning programs, and off-season training opportunities.
? Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches while ensuring alignment with the
program's philosophy and goals.
? Provide leadership and support to Junior Varsity coaches to establish continuity and
long-term player development.
? Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, leadership, and academic success
among student-athletes.
? Ensure all student-athletes maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and meet ATA eligibility
standards.
? Coordinate and oversee mandatory study tables for student-athletes after school and/or
following practices.
? Implement and monitor mandatory nutritional plans to support student-athlete health,
wellness, and performance.
? Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director, School Operations Manager, Principal,
and parents regarding team operations and student-athlete development.
? Maintain accurate attendance, eligibility, academic, and performance records.
? Coordinate team scheduling, transportation requests, equipment inventory, and program
needs.
? Organize and oversee summer workouts, camps, clinics, and off-season player
development opportunities.
? Represent ATA Athletics professionally within the school and community.
? Attend athletic department meetings, school functions, and professional development
opportunities.
? Ensure compliance with all ATA, conference, district, and MHSAA rules and regulations.
Work Schedule & Availability
? Monday through Friday, approximately 3:30 PM - 8:00 PM during the volleyball season.
? Must be available after school dismissal for practices, games, study tables, and team
activities.
? Occasional evenings and weekends required for competitions, tournaments, camps,
fundraising events, and team functions.
? Off-season responsibilities include player development, conditioning oversight, program
planning, community engagement, and recruitment efforts.
