Job description

Position Summary We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to support our shipping and receiving operations. This position is responsible for coordinating the finished goods shipping schedule, maintaining accurate shipping records, scheduling carrier appointments, and ensuring shipments are processed accurately and on time. The Shipping Clerk works closely with the Production Coordinator, Shipping team, and Customer Service to maximize load efficiency and support daily operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Coordinate and maintain the daily finished goods shipping schedule. Schedule carrier appointments and loading times while balancing shipping priorities. Coordinate truck loading to ensure shipments are complete, accurate, and optimized. Enter and maintain shipping information in the company database. Research and resolve shipping discrepancies using company systems and shipping records. Determine appropriate shipping methods based on customer requirements and delivery schedules. Verify shipment quantities, products, and documentation prior to shipment. Receive incoming materials and supplies from common carriers by inspecting shipments, matching packing slips, updating the Receiving Log, and notifying recipients. Arrange outbound shipments with carriers and communicate tracking information to appropriate departments. Create pick lists and coordinate material shipments for finishing operations in Tecate, ensuring proper loading and communication with the Tecate Shipping Department. Record billet receiving information, including cast numbers, chemical composition, and quantities. Coordinate customer-owned material transfers for processing or return by accurately logging material and communicating information to internal departments. Monitor order status, due dates, and schedule changes to ensure timely shipment. Verify customer shipments and purchase orders for accuracy and identify discrepancies. Update shipping information in the EPICS system. Support the Shipping Department by maintaining effective communication with Customer Service, Production, and internal teams. Communicate unusual or out-of-the-ordinary situations to management promptly. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Three to six months of shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or related experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally at all levels of the organization. Basic computer skills and experience entering and maintaining data in business systems. Experience using EPICS or similar ERP systems is preferred. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve shipping discrepancies.
