We are seeking a compassionate, committed, and experienced Elementary Special Education Teacher to join a supportive educational team in Racine, Wisconsin. Position Details

  • Position: Special Education Teacher
  • Location: Racine, WI
  • Start Date: September 1, 2026
  • Assignment Length: 1-Year Contract
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 40 Hours per Week
  • Pay Rate:  $45/hour+, based on experience and credentials

Position Summary

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides high-quality educational services to special education students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to student success through individualized instruction, collaboration with educational teams, and implementation of specialized learning programs.

This role requires active participation in developing and executing student-centered educational plans, providing specialized instruction, tutorial support, and consultation with general education staff to ensure students receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with special needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, support staff, and families to support student success.
  • Assess student progress and maintain accurate educational records.
  • Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
  • Support inclusion initiatives and consult with general education teachers.
  • Create a positive, supportive, and structured learning environment.
  • Comply with all district, state, and federal special education regulations and guidelines.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred.
  • Valid state teaching certification as required by state, district, or contract regulations.
  • Minimum one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
  • State Teacher Certification (preferred):
    • Standard Elementary Teaching
    • Standard Secondary Teaching
    • Standard Special Teaching
  • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred.
  • Commitment to professional standards and best educational practices.
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable).
  • Current TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable).
  • Current health certificate as required by state regulations or contract.
  • Must meet all applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
