General Summary
The CPR instructor develops, prepares and teaches coursework developed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Instructors are responsible for facilitating video presentations, instructor lectures, skills demonstrations, testing students, answering questions, and completing post-course rosters, paperwork, etc. Courses may be taught during the day, evening, weekends, and/or online (where applicable). Applicants must be self-motivated, trustworthy, and flexible. Instructors spend significant time working without daily supervision, and must be able to meet timelines and complete tasks without on-site management presence. The position is strictly part-time with a maximum number of hours at 19 per week.
Must be available to teach on campus and at extension sites where applicable.
Must own AHA Instructor Manual in identified discipline(s) and course DVD.
Specific Position Duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively, speaking in public and in front of a class of adults.
  • Ability to be professional, friendly, outgoing and engaging.
  • Skill in working independently and possess advanced organizational skills.

Minimum Qualifications
Aligned with the Odessa College AHA Training Center
Must hold current American Heart Association Instructor certification card in at least one of the following:
  • Heartsaver
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization)

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a healthcare.
