Job Summary: Certified Teaching Assistants (CTAs) provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a Certified Teacher
Minimum Qualifications:
  • NYSD Certification as a Teaching Assistant.

Primary Activities
  • Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects.
  • Provide the teacher with information about students which will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences.
  • Assist students in the use of available instructional resources, and assist in the development of instructional materials.
  • Utilize special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar subjects.
  • Assist in related instructional work as required.
  • Assist students with specific health related activities as appropriate.
  • Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records (e.g. lessons, attendance, pencils, paper, teaching supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reports, or meeting mandated requirements.
  • Performs general clerical tasks for the purpose of helping the teacher get instructional materials ready.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
