Adjunct (per course) Instructor - Office of Engaged Learning
The Office of Engaged Learning has occasionalopportunities for adjunct instructors to teach and facilitate IPL courses underthe supervision of the OEL Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Coordinator.Students earn credit by completing an internship (IPL 300) or project (IPL 301)course concurrently with a field experience, or as a service learningexperience.
Minimum adjunct teaching requirements:
  • Undergraduate programs: Master's degree or higher in the discipline or subfield. If an applicant holds a master's degree or higher in a discipline or subfield other than that in which the applicant is applying to teach, that individual should have completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline or subfield.
  • Graduate programs: Terminal degree determined by the discipline, with a record of research, scholarship or achievement appropriate for the graduate program.

Office of Engaged Learning requirements:
  • Master's degree;
  • Minimum 2 years full-time work and previous teaching in a higher education setting with demonstrated pedagogical skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver content that is student-centered and actively engages students with diverse interests and needs;
  • Knowledge of career, professional development, experiential learning, workplace trends, and/or service learning best practices.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Previous experience teaching in a hybrid and/or fully online classroom at the collegiate level;
  • Experience leveraging educational technology tools and learning management systems.

Salary: The minimum compensation for adjunct(per course) teaching at UIS ranges from $2700 to $3600. Minimum pay is basedon number of courses previously taught at UIS, and whether the instructor hasearned a terminal degree.
