Job description

Take on a rewarding role supporting young learners as an educator specializing in deaf and hard of hearing instruction. This contract position focuses on 1st and 2nd graders at an elementary campus near Mansfield, TX. You'll have the opportunity to provide direct, individualized education to students, making a daily impact on their growth, confidence, and lifelong learning.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current Texas teaching certificate with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (EC-12) endorsement, or the ability to obtain certification or permit prior to your start date
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Demonstrated skill in American Sign Language and/or listening and spoken language approaches as matched to student needs
  • Solid understanding of language acquisition and literacy development for deaf/hard of hearing children
  • Experience creating and implementing IEPs

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous work teaching in a self-contained deaf/hard of hearing classroom
  • Background in early elementary (K–2) literacy instruction
  • Familiarity with RDSPD programs and compliance procedures
  • English/Spanish bilingual abilities

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver core instruction tailored to student communication modalities (ASL, spoken language, total communication)
  • Develop and review IEPs in partnership with specialists and school staff
  • Collaborate with audiologists, interpreters, and speech-language pathologists
  • Monitor student academic and communication progress and share updates with families
