Apprenticeship Substitute Teacher
Position Overview:



Mississinewa Community School Corporation is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Apprenticeship Substitute Teachers. This role is ideal for those who aspire to pursue a career in education, offering hands-on experience while working toward a bachelor's degree and Indiana teaching license. Apprentices will gain valuable classroom experience, participate in mentoring, and engage in on-the-job training as part of the Indiana University Registered Apprenticeship for K-12 Teacher program.
Compensation:
  • $95 per day
  • 7 hours per day
  • Up to 5 days per week - Number of days is negotiable based upon the college class schedule of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a substitute teacher, providing direct instruction and maintaining classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Actively engage in hands-on classroom activities to fulfill hour requirements for the apprenticeship program.
  • Collaborate with school staff and participate in mentoring sessions provided by the school corporation.
  • Complete on-the-job training as outlined in Appendix A of the IU Registered Apprenticeship for K-12 Teacher Occupation.
  • Uphold all district policies and procedures, including maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Enrolled in or admissible to the Indiana University Kokomo Education Bachelor's degree program.
  • Must complete and clear a Criminal Background Check.
