Summary

The Teacher Assistant will work closely with the lead teacher to support classroom activities and ensure a nurturing environment for children to learn, play, and grow as young Believers. This position will assist in the supervision and management of a class between fourteen and twenty children, ages 1 to 5 years old. This is a ministerial position and the Teacher Assistant has received and acknowledges Jesus Christ as Savior, feels called to the position, and lives in a manner glorifying to God. He/she needs to be spiritually mature and have academic and leadership abilities. The Teacher Assistant honors Christ in every class and in every activity.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and activities
  • Supervise children in the classroom and on the playground
  • Provide one-on-one support to children as needed
  • Help maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
  • Maintain positive relationships and communication with parents and gaurdians
  • Assists in planning and implementing the daily schedule, weekly lesson plans, and themes as set by the teacher and principal
  • Helps ensure the classroom meets licensing requirements, in planning and setting up learning centers, and preparing/restocking art and snack supplies
  • Supervises and keeps track of attendance during classroom activities, nap time, outside time, snack, and restroom time
  • Maintains cleanliness; sweeping, cleaning and sanitizing tables, toys, cots, and other surfaces; gathering laundry on Friday; and cleaning up accidents
  • Responds appropriately with love and prayer to disciplinary problems and helps resolve problems in accordance with NCA policy, state and federal laws
  • Assists students in self-control and acceptable standards of student behavior
  • Encourages students to accept God's gift of salvation and grow in their understanding and knowledge of God
  • Follows the Matthew 18 principle to resolve conflict and show respect to students, parents, administration, and staff
  • Seeks wise counsel from the principal program supervisor, colleagues, and parents
