POSITION SUMMARY
The R&D Data Science organization is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Science Programs to serve as the operational backbone of the TDS DDSAI team. This role owns portfolio management, capacity planning, stage-gate governance, and cross-functional coordination for the Data, Data Science & AI (DDSAI) Therapeutics Development & Supply (TDS) team, working closely with partner teams across TDS, DDSAI, and J&J Technology. You will ensure the team's project portfolio is prioritized, resourced, tracked, and delivering measurable value against TDS's digital strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Portfolio & Program Management
• Own the team's project portfolio process: intake, prioritization, sequencing, resource allocation, and stage-gate progression across all active workstreams.
• Maintain portfolio-level dashboards, status reporting, and value-realization tracking for leadership visibility.
• Manage dependencies across lighthouse projects, foundational workstreams, and cross-functional partner deliverables.
Capacity Planning & Resource Coordination
• Forecast and manage team capacity across projects; flag conflicts and propose rebalancing to leadership.
• Coordinate onboarding of new hires, consultants, and external collaborators into active projects.
• Partner with Finance on budget tracking, headcount planning, and investment case development.
Governance & Operating Rhythm
• Operationalize the TDS digital stage-gate framework for the DDSAI team's contributions.
• Lead and facilitate project and portfolio review meetings, sprint planning and review meetings, stand-ups and retrospectives internal to the team and with cross-functional partners.
• Maintain governance artifacts: RACI matrices, risk registers, decision logs, and lessons learned.
Stakeholder Coordination
• Serve as the primary coordination point between DDSAI-TDS and TDS, JJT and DDSAI cross-functional teams.
• Support leadership in preparing materials for Digital Board reviews, LT updates, and DDSAI capability reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, scientific, or business discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in program management, portfolio management, or operational leadership in R&D, technology, or data science organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder project portfolios with competing priorities and resource constraints.
• Strong skills in capacity planning, financial tracking, and governance frameworks.
• Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Smartsheet, MS Project) and executive reporting.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred
• Experience in pharmaceutical R&D, life sciences, or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with agile delivery practices and stage-gate governance models.
• PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification.
• Experience supporting data science, AI/ML, or digital transformation teams.

$137,000.00 - $235,750.00
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation -120 hours per calendar year
