Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and safety-minded Journeyman Electrician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, modifying, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local Texas regulations. The ideal candidate must possess an active Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Journeyman Electrician License and be comfortable working independently or leading a small team of apprentices on commercial, industrial, or residential job sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Repair: Install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems, including conduits, tubing, wiring, panelboards, transformers, lighting fixtures, and control systems.

  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret blueprints, schematics, architectural drawings, and technical diagrams to accurately plan layouts and routing for electrical infrastructure.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment (e.g., voltmeters, multimeters, ammeters) to locate and correct the root cause of a breakdown.

  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work complies strictly with the current National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA safety regulations, and local building codes. Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times.

  • Apprentice Mentorship: Direct and train assigned electrical apprentices, ensuring they follow safety protocols, practice proper techniques, and accurately track their TDLR hours.

  • Material Management: Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit (EMT, IMC, and Rigid) using hand tools and mechanical benders. Track job site inventory and notify the Foreman of material needs.

Position Requirements & Qualifications

  • Licensure: Must possess a current, valid Journeyman Electrician License issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). (Applications without a verifiable TDLR card will not be considered).

  • Experience: Minimum of 4–5 years of verifiable electrical experience (completion of a registered apprenticeship program preferred).

  • Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical theory, and standard industry safety practices. Pro-level proficiency in bending pipe (EMT/Rigid).

  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work on scaffolding/scissor lifts, and stand or kneel for extended periods in varying Texas weather conditions.

  • Tools: Must own standard hand tools of the trade (linesman pliers, wire strippers, screwdrivers, tape measure, tool pouch, etc.). Power tools will be provided.

  • Screening: Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
