Position Description
The Service Technician provides skilled/certified service and repairs for our systems on verticals including healthcare, education, security, and other technologies. The Service Technician position demonstrates a thorough competency in field installation techniques, and a thorough understanding of company standards and methodology. This position will represent Beacon in a professional manor in front of our customers. The salary range for this position is between $19.00/hour - $24.00/hour, based on relevant education, experience, and other job related factors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshooting low voltage systems to determine problems and correcting/debugging.
  • Participate in small service projects, service agreement fulfillment and quality control to facilitate the turnover from projects to service.
  • Demonstrate ability to accomplish assigned tasks on schedule.
  • Demonstrate basic installation methodology in wire pull, device installation, wire pathing, and other tasks as they are assigned.
  • Expected to be part of the on-call rotation.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of systems upon which factory certification is achieved.
  • Completion of daily tasks as assigned by the technician leading the project or the Project Manager.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of procedures and guidelines.
  • Great communication with customers and represents Beacon in a professional way.
  • Provide daily reports to Service Coordinator on work completed and issues related to project completion.
  • Completing required paperwork in a timely manner so the Service Department can invoice customers correctly and promptly.
  • Promote Beacon services and products to customers.
  • Specialty tools will be provided to service technicians on an as needed basis. Basic hand tools will be required for qualified candidate to provide. Installer will be responsible for providing reasonable care in protecting and maintaining tools.

Position Requirements
Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong electrical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough experience in installation related to low-voltage technologies.
  • Proficient in Windows-based computer network environment, Word, and Excel.
  • Effective organizational skills with strong attention to detail and reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple types of end-user customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, along with proven ability to lead effective teams.
  • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously, either individually or in a team setting.
  • Strong team player.
  • Self-motivated with a strong ability to learn new things quickly.
  • Experience working with critical communication systems.
  • Experience working on various security systems including access control and CCTV.

Education, License and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or approved equivalent.
  • Technical Training:
    • Certification in Rauland Borg Products and installations highly desired. Specifically, R4000, RIV, R5000, R5, ICS, and TCU.
    • Security background is preferred. Certifications in one or more of the following is desired: Open Options, Hirsch, 3xLogic, Video Insight, and Bosch.
  • Holds an OSHA 10 or higher certification as well as thorough knowledge of guidelines covering the NEC and TIA/EIA standards.

Physical Requirements:
  • Work environment can be an office or a customer site under construction.
  • Assist lead technicians and/or Project Manager with accomplishing tasks essential to timely and scheduled completion of projects.
  • Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people. Is frequently called upon to handle difficult situations.
  • Must understand infection control practices when working in healthcare facilities.
  • Must be able to deal with a variety of emotions and frustrations in making decisions.
  • Must be adaptive to novel and diverse work problems and personalities daily.
  • Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
  • Occasional high stress work may require dealing with customers/clients. Work hours can be long and varied, sometimes working late at night, and starting early in the morning.
  • Requires traveling to jobsites in the Denver area as well as some out-of-town travel as needed per customer request
  • Requires sitting, prolonged standing, walking, handling, gripping, pushing, pulling, and reaching over head with force. Also requires stooping, crouching, crawling on knees and working along floors/sub floors.
  • Ability to physically transport ladders up to 12 feet in height and lift ladders from vehicle roof racks. Must be willing and able to climb and stand on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds, sometimes overhead.
  • Ability to use power actuated hand tools, i.e., hammers, drills, saws.
  • Ability to see a full spectrum of color for correct wire identification.
  • Maintain a valid Drivers License and clean MVR to drive a company vehicle.
  • Maintain a clear background check to satisfy customer jobsite badging requirements.
  • Willing to submit to all vaccinations and screening tests required for customer jobsite badging protocol.
  • Maintain a clear drug and alcohol screening protocol.
  • Consistent, reliable, and timely attendance.
  • Ability to navigate all types of construction/customer sites, unassisted.
  • Participation in on-call rotation as assigned.

Travel Requirements:
  • 70% travel or overnight, as needed.
