What is a TCR?

TCR stands for T Cell Receptor, which refers to proteins found on the surface of T cells, a type of immune cell. TCRs are crucial for the immune system as they recognize and bind to specific antigens presented by other cells, enabling the T cells to respond to pathogens or infected cells. In the context of biotechnology and medicine, TCRs can also refer to engineered T Cell Receptors used in therapies to target certain diseases, such as cancer. Understanding TCRs is important for advancing immunotherapy and developing targeted treatments.
