CABLE TECHNICIAN TRAINEE

JOB SUMMARY

The CABLE TECHNICIAN TRAINEE will work to install aboveground utilities and infrastructure for a local distribution center. Most of the day will be spent in a Boom Lift pulling cable. The CABLE TECHNICIAN TRAINEE should be comfortable working at heights 40-50ft aboveground. Work is completed in a team or crew environment.

DUTIES

  • Operate equipment to install aboveground utilities according to project specifications.
  • Work at heights to pull cable while minimizing surface disruption.
  • Perform pull‑backs for conduit, pipe, or cable installation.
  • Read and interpret utility locates and construction drawings.
  • Safely identify and avoid existing utilities.
  • Setup, operate, and maintain equipment and tooling.
  • Coordinate with crews, locators, and supervisors to ensure safe operations.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site.
  • Complete daily production and safety documentation.
  • Follow all company, OSHA, and site‑specific safety policies.
  • Perform job site setup and cleanup, including loading and unloading tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Hand‑dig entry and exit pits as needed.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience working at heights
  • Boom Lift, Scissor Lift, 2-Man Lift, 3-Man Lift
  • Knowledge of Low Voltage Systems
  • Mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to work indoor/outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
