To thrive as a Tax Trainee, you need a strong grasp of accounting principles, analytical thinking, and a relevant degree such as accounting, finance, or economics. Familiarity with tax preparation software (like CCH, Sage, or IRIS), Microsoft Excel, and progress toward professional certifications (such as ATT or ACA) are typical technical requirements. Attention to detail, effective communication, and a proactive attitude are standout soft skills for this role. These abilities ensure accuracy in tax compliance, support client relationships, and facilitate career progression in a complex regulatory environment.

You will often work closely with both your immediate team and other departments, gaining exposure to different tax areas like corporate, personal, or indirect tax. The role is structured to provide a balance between learning on the job and formal study, allowing you to gradually take on more complex responsibilities as you progress.

What are Tax Trainees?
