Job Title: Managed Payroll/Tax Services SupervisorJob Summary

Next Generation, Inc., an HR Path company, is seeking a Managed Payroll/Tax Services Supervisor to lead a team of payroll and tax processing specialists, manage client communications, and ensure accurate and compliant payroll operations. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, highly organized, and experienced in multi-state payroll and tax processing. In this role, you will oversee daytoday payroll and tax activities, drive operational improvements, support sales functions when needed, and ensure client satisfaction through accurate and timely service delivery. Candidates local to Atlanta who are able to go into the office some days are preferred but remote will be considered.

Job ResponsibilitiesSupervisory Duties
  • Manage a team of Payroll and Tax Processing Specialists.
  • Oversee client communications and provide timely updates.
  • Ensure adherence to payroll and tax processes, controls, and operational standards.
  • Support the team with hands-on execution of daily processing activities when needed.
  • Escalate operational issues to leadership appropriately.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement operational improvements.
  • Participate in sales support activities as required.
  • Ensure team members receive proper training and ongoing knowledge development.
  • Provide performance updates and metrics to leadership.
Payroll Team Accountabilities
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payrolls.
  • Prepare pre and postprocessing payroll reports for reconciliation and approval.
  • Audit and reconcile client time and attendance data.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies through analysis and inquiry response.
  • Provide prompt and accurate payroll-related responses to client questions.
  • Maintain payroll operations by following internal policies and suggesting improvements.
  • Protect sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Process reversals, voids, stop payments, returned items, and off-cycle payments.
  • Contribute to overall team success by assisting with related duties as needed.
Tax Team Accountabilities
  • Manage and optimize tax software, including new feature implementation.
  • File all required tax returns and payments accurately and on schedule for all frequencies.
  • Calculate adjustments, deductions, and credits in collaboration with clients.
  • Maintain accurate client tax rates, filing frequencies, and agency requirements.
  • Calculate form preparation fees based on return complexity and processing needs.
  • Research and resolve tax correspondence and related issues.
  • Maintain detailed tax filing spreadsheets, including deadlines and client-specific notes.
  • Assist clients with business registration for applicable tax agencies.
  • Register payroll clients with state reporting agencies as needed.
  • Verify input data, totals, and accuracy on all prepared forms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support smooth department operations.
Job Requirements
  • Ability to effectively manage and lead a team of payroll and tax specialists.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3-5 years of payroll processing experience.
  • 3-5 years of tax-specific experience required.
  • Experience with Federal, multi-state, local withholding, and unemployment tax filings.
  • Strong communication and writing skills for internal and external interactions.
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently.
  • Strong desire to act as a strategic partner to stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related computer systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to extract insights from data.
  • Experience with SuccessFactors Payroll highly preferred.
