Job description

GENERAL FUNCTION / SUMMARY

The Senior Tax Associate is responsible for providing tax compliance, reviewing financials, preparing and reviewing tax return, conducting tax research, and troubleshooting tax software. This role involves working closely with clients, addressing their tax-related inquiries, and ensuring compliance with income tax regulations. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining excellent client service.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financials Review, Tax Return Preparation & Research

  • Review financials, Review financials, including analyzing income statements, balance sheets, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with accounting records.
  • Prepare and review tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Conduct tax research on federal, state, and local tax laws, providing guidance on complex tax matters.
  • Assist in resolving tax notices, audits, and other tax-related correspondences with regulatory authorities.

Client Communication & Support

  • Handle email correspondences with clients regarding tax-related inquiries.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings with clients to discuss financials, tax return filing, and system improvements.
  • Respond promptly to client queries, providing clear and accurate guidance on tax and financials matters.

Software Implementation & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot QuickBooks bookkeeping software issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Troubleshoot ProConnect tax software issues and provide recommendations for resolution.

Training

  • Conduct bookkeeping and tax training sessions for clients and internal teams.
  • Stay updated on tax regulations, sharing knowledge with colleagues and clients.

Administrative & Miscellaneous Tasks

  • Perform administrative tasks related to tax functions.
  • Support process improvements, documentation, and policy updates as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education & Certification: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or EA certification is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in CPA firm, handling tax return review & preparation, financial review service and tax compliance.
  • Proficiency in ProConnect, QuickBooks and other tax software.
  • Strong knowledge of tax compliance requirements.
  • Experience with tax research and tax correspondence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective client interaction.
  • Ability to handle client queries with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities in tax and tax compliance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot tax and payroll system issues efficiently.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
