Position is responsible for managing and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Company's income tax positions, transfer pricing policies, and tax controversy matters in compliance with internal guidelines, applicable domestic and international tax laws, and reporting standards. Responsibilities will be focused on income tax provision and compliance, transfer pricing documentation and intercompany policy governance, defense and resolution of tax authority audits and disputes, internal control compliance, and strategic tax planning initiatives. The position will have authority to make decisions and provide guidance on proper tax treatment and procedures, in conjunction with leadership reporting and cross-functional team alignment.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage domestic and international income tax audits, inquiries, and disputes with federal (IRS), state, and foreign tax authorities, from initial information document request responses through resolution.
  • Develop audit defense strategies, coordinate the preparation of responses, technical positions, and supporting documentation in close collaboration with Legal, Finance, and outside counsel or advisors.
  • Assess and quantify exposure on open tax controversy matters and ensure appropriate reserve levels are maintained
  • Act as the primary point of contact for tax authority communications and manage relationships with external tax advisors, outside counsel, and government officials on controversy matters.
  • Assist as a tax representative of the Company on documentation requests, legal filings, and explanations pertaining to tax litigation, appeals, or settlement negotiations.
  • Monitor and track the status and resolution of all open tax controversy matters, maintaining comprehensive records and reporting updates to leadership on a regular basis.
  • Assist in the Company's risk assessment over tax-related Internal Controls, ensuring no deficiencies in Test of Design and Operating Effectiveness of controls, along with recommendations for new process controls.
  • Prepare and manage contemporaneous transfer pricing documentation
  • Partner with Business, Legal, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to review intercompany transactions (e.g., goods, services, IP licensing, loans) and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor intercompany agreements and ensure alignment between legal/contractual structures, operational reality, and tax/transfer pricing positions.
  • Assess and communicate transfer pricing risk exposure and recommend corrective actions or policy adjustments proactively.
  • Coordinate with outside advisors and tax authorities on Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs)
  • Assist with the Company's quarterly and annual income tax provision process, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate (ETR) analysis, and uncertain tax positions.
  • Perform GL tax account risk-level review and analysis, inclusive of deferred tax asset/liability rollforwards, valuation allowance assessments, long-term open items, and resolution plans.
  • Maintain and regularly update knowledge of new tax legislation, regulatory guidance, and case law, and evaluate and communicate potential impacts on the Company's financial and reporting position to Finance, Accounting, and Business teams.
  • Conduct technical tax research and documentation on significant transactions, providing clear and concise guidance, modeling, and conclusions to Business, Finance, Legal, and Sales teams.
  • Utilize and champion AI tools and technology solutions to identify process efficiencies, reduce manual hours, improve reporting accuracy, and streamline tax compliance and provision workflows.
  • Support quarterly, annual, and ad hoc internal and external audits of the Company related to tax matters.
  • Experience supervising activities of staff members in order to achieve personal and team goals, along with completion of assignments within established timelines and specifications
  • Proven record of leading innovative process improvement projects
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field from a four-year college or university
  • 8-12 years of corporate income tax experience with responsibility for tax provision, compliance, transfer pricing, and/or tax controversy; or 6-10 years if candidate comes from a Big 4 or national public accounting firm tax practice.
  • Public accounting experience (Big 4 or equivalent) and/or CPA / JD strongly preferred.
  • Direct, hands-on experience managing federal and/or international income tax audits and controversy matters.
  • Demonstrated experience with transfer pricing methodologies, documentation requirements, and intercompany policy governance in a multinational environment.
  • Proven record of leading process improvement initiatives within a tax department.
  • Experience with SAP, OneSource Tax Provision (OTP), or similar ERP/tax technology systems preferred.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Deep technical knowledge of U.S. federal and international income tax law, and accounting standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify technical inconsistencies and tax risk exposures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex tax issues into clear, actionable guidance for non-tax stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail is of paramount importance in this role.
  • Diplomacy and ability to manage difficult situations with tax authorities, external advisors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills (Word & Excel); proficiency in pivot tables, V-lookups, and financial modeling
  • AI tool implementation and usage skills within the tax function preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sense of urgency and ownership in delivering high-quality work product on tight timelines.
  • Relationship management capability with internal stakeholders (Finance, Legal, HR, Business) and external parties (advisors, tax authorities, auditors).
