Tax Research Attorney

The Opportunity:

At Frost, PLLC our Tax Research Attorneys provide clients with exceptional service, extensive expertise, and personalized guidance to the firm and our clients.  Our Tax Research Attorneys analyze potential legal issues and understand how rules, regulations, and case law can impact the firm and our clients.  Professionals in this position must stay up to date on tax laws and regulations to excel in this field. With their expertise, they can devise effective strategies to solve tax and financial challenges for our clients as well as provide prospective guidance to the firm.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to interact with our firm, our clients and the Internal Revenue Service, law firms, and other related external firms.
  • Offer expert advice and analysis on a wide range of tax matters, including estate, gift, and income tax issues.
  • Assist the firm with risk assessment and counseling on complicated tax problems.
  • Execute project-related tax research and analysis based on Federal and State tax laws.
  • Counsel the firm on the consequences of new and updated federal and state tax laws that affect our clients.
  • Prepare tax memoranda and client correspondence.
  • Assist with tax controversy representation.
  • Engage in client discussions, communications, and outreach as needed.
  • Provide estate, succession, and gift planning advice.
  • Manage fiduciary, estate and gift tax compliance engagements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify complex issues and apply advanced tax principles.
  • Develop positive working relationships with firm employees and clients.
  • Effectively exhibit communication, listening, and problem-solving skills, including asking questions.
  • Stay informed on current topics, including industry trends, exploring new ideas, and continually expanding knowledge base.
  • Provide resolutions and solutions for problems and issues.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate required.
  • At least five years of practice as an attorney, public accounting or similar.
  • Experience conducting legal research and communicating such verbally and in writing effectively.
  • Detailed knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Tax controversy experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with an ability to proactively determine, prioritize and resolve issues.
  • Located or willing to relocate to Little Rock, Arkansas.

Qualifications Preferred But Not Required:

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in taxation or accounting.
  • Substantial financial/accounting knowledge and/or experience, preferred.
  • Tax LLM.
  • CPA license.

What can you expect?

  • Initial phone screening of qualified candidates.
  • Panel interview with a member of Human Resources and partner and staff who this position will interact with for candidates who advance from initial phone screen.
  • Secondary panel interview may be required if multiple candidates from the initial panel interview are selected.
