AspectTax Pro

CredentialsTax Pro

Work EnvironmentTax Pro

Tax Pro and Tax Preparer often share similar roles, with both preparing tax returns for clients. However, Tax Pro typically has more advanced credentials, such as certifications or licenses, and may offer broader financial services. Both work in tax preparation firms, accounting offices, or independently during tax season. The main difference lies in the level of expertise and scope of services offered, with Tax Pro generally providing more comprehensive tax planning and consulting.

What is the difference between a CPA and a tax pro?

A Tax Pro is a general term for professionals who prepare and file tax returns, which can include enrolled agents, tax preparers, or accountants. A CPA, or Certified Public Accountant, is a licensed accountant with advanced training, often providing broader financial services beyond tax preparation, and typically holding a state license. Both can assist with tax-related tasks, but CPAs usually have more extensive credentials and may handle complex tax issues or audits.

What does a tax pro do?

A tax pro, or tax professional, prepares and files tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance with tax laws. They analyze financial documents, provide tax planning advice, and may use software like TurboTax or QuickBooks. Certification such as CPA or Enrolled Agent can enhance their qualifications.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Tax Manager to lead critical areas of our global tax function, including income tax accounting (ASC 740), foreign tax compliance and reporting, and tax structuring for acquisitions and integrations. This hands-on leader will partner across Finance, Legal, Treasury, and Corporate Development to ensure accurate financial reporting, efficient compliance, and value-added planning in a complex multinational environment. Reporting directly to the VP, Corporate Tax, this leader will help shape the tax footprint and structure of a fast-growing, global organization.

Are you passionate about this work?

Key Responsibilities

Income Tax Accounting (ASC 740)

  • Own quarterly and annual tax provision process, including current and deferred tax calculations, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions (FIN 48), and effective tax rate analysis.
  • Prepare and review tax footnotes and disclosures for consolidated financial statements; manage external auditor requests and controls related to tax.
  • Lead global forecasting of ETR, cash taxes, and balance-sheet tax accounts; partner with FP&A on scenario modeling.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, provision systems/tools, and process documentation.

Foreign Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Oversee global corporate income tax compliance (direct taxes) across foreign subsidiaries—calendar, filings, and local statutory requirements.
  • Assist with withholding taxes, permanent establishment analyses, and cross-border intercompany charges in collaboration with Transfer Pricing.
  • Coordinate global tax audits and inquiries with local advisors; track exposures and settlements.
  • Drive data governance and standardization for global tax reporting; implement process improvements and automation.

Planning, Governance & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support cash tax optimization, repatriation strategies, and foreign tax credit utilization.
  • Collaborate on transfer pricing policies, documentation, and controversy support (BEPS/Local File/Master File in coordination with TP team).
  • Monitor global tax legislative changes and communicate business impacts; develop practical playbooks and internal guidance.
  • Mentor tax staff; manage external advisors and budgets; foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What’s in it for you?

There's no monopoly on innovative ideas or limits to how far you can advance with our team. We offer an open, communicative environment that fosters individual initiative. We pride ourselves in being a company where people are happy and choose to build a career.

In addition to growth opportunities, as a ProMach employee, you receive more than just a paycheck. Total compensation includes your salary, comprehensive medical/dental programs, as well as life insurance, a generous paid time off program, and a retirement savings plan with a company match. And because we understand the importance of feeling protected, there is no waiting period for benefits – you are eligible on your first day of employment!

Please note that the pay ranges listed on external job boards, outside our posting details, do not accurately reflect our internal compensation ranges.

If this sounds like you, we want to connect!

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required; CPA preferred.
  • 8–12+ years of progressive corporate tax experience (Big Four and/or multinational industry experience preferred).
  • Deep expertise in ASC 740 and U.S. federal corporate tax; strong exposure to foreign tax regimes and cross-border issues.
  • Familiarity with transfer pricing concepts, intercompany transactions, and BEPS requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects, manage stakeholders, and meet tight deadlines in a matrixed global organization.
  • Strong systems orientation (tax provision software, ERP, and data tools); advanced Excel skills.

Pro Mach, Inc. was named to the Inc. 5,000 list of the fastest growing private companies in the U.S. seven times. We continue to introduce innovative products, enter new markets, expand our global presence, and actively acquire new capabilities.

We have the rewards, opportunities, and the market strengths of a large organization combined with the entrepreneurial culture of a small, fast-paced company. You’ll enjoy the benefits of working with a growing company that competes globally, with the personal touch and feel of a smaller company where you can make an impact every day.
