Job description

We are looking for a Tax Operations Manager to lead daily operations for tax processing and front office teams in Omaha, Nebraska. This role oversees staffing, workflow coordination, and employee development across multiple office locations while promoting consistent service standards and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings strong people leadership, experience in public accounting environments, and the ability to improve processes that support a high-volume tax practice.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and support tax processing and front desk teams across multiple locations, providing guidance on daily operations, performance, and employee relations matters.
• Hold regular individual check-ins and team meetings to reinforce expectations, encourage development, and maintain accountability across the department.
• Coordinate staffing activities for processor and front desk positions, including scheduling, recruitment support, onboarding, and separation processes in collaboration with HR.
• Create and deliver training for new team members covering firm procedures, workflow expectations, and the technology used in daily operations.
• Mentor processors through defined advancement levels and build development plans that prepare high-performing employees for future opportunities.
• Oversee workload allocation for in-office and centralized processing teams, adjusting assignments to meet deadlines, manage seasonal demand, and reduce bottlenecks in work queues.
• Ensure dependable front desk coverage across office locations and uphold a consistent, attentive client service experience.
• Partner with quality control and operational stakeholders to address complex processing issues, refine procedures, and support the implementation of updated tools and workflow documentation before peak filing periods.• Demonstrated experience leading teams in a public accounting, tax, or client services environment.
• Strong people management skills with the ability to handle performance discussions, coaching, and day-to-day employee support.
• Background in workload planning, schedule coordination, and managing work-in-progress in deadline-driven settings.
• Experience designing and delivering training programs for operational or administrative staff.
• Working knowledge of tax processing workflows, front office operations, and standardized procedure development across multiple locations.
