Job description

Senior Tax Manager / Tax Director

Valley Tax Advisors - Lehigh Valley, PA

At Valley Tax Advisors, tax isn't just compliance -- it's clarity, strategy, and partnership. Business owners come to us because they want more than returns; they want insight, guidance, and someone who genuinely cares about the future of their business.

As a Senior Tax Manager, you'll be at the center of that mission. You'll lead client engagements, shape tax strategy, mentor a growing team, and play a pivotal role in a boutique firm that values your ideas, leadership, and expertise.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to build toward partnership. Valley Tax Advisors is intentional about developing next-generation leaders, and this position is designed as a fast track to partnership for the right person. If you're a relationship builder who values deep, long-term connections with clients -- and you're looking for a firm where those relationships become the foundation of your future -- you'll find that here. The Senior Tax Manager is a highly visible role, one where your reputation, client rapport, and advisory instincts will directly shape your path within the firm.

Why Valley Tax Advisors?

Valley Tax Advisors is a boutique tax, accounting, and advisory firm serving small- and medium-sized businesses throughout the Lehigh Valley. The firm is built on a simple belief: business owners deserve a partner who understands their entire financial picture -- not just their tax forms.

Here, your work will matter. You'll have direct access to clients, decision-makers, and leadership. You'll help business owners understand their numbers, make smarter choices, and navigate challenges with confidence. And you'll do it in a collaborative environment that blends deep technical expertise with a modern, technology-forward approach.

What makes this opportunity stand out?
  • You become a true advisor. You won't be buried in anonymous returns -- you'll be the strategic voice clients rely on for guidance during growth, transitions, and pivotal decisions.
  • Boutique size, big impact. Your ideas will influence processes, technology, team development, and the firm's direction.
  • Client relationships run deep. Business owners stay with Valley Tax Advisors because of trust -- and as a senior leader, you'll be part of the team that builds and protects that trust.
  • A place that values innovation. With tools like SmartLedger, the firm is committed to leveraging technology for real-time insights and better decision-making.
  • A leadership role with real autonomy. You'll have both the freedom and support to elevate the tax department and help drive continued growth.
What we offer
  • A leadership role where your input shapes the firm's tax function and client experience.
  • Direct access to decision-makers, both internally and with clients.
  • A supportive boutique culture focused on excellence, trust, and long-term relationships.
  • Modern tools and a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits (details available upon request).
  • Significant opportunities for growth, influence, and long-term leadership.
What you will do
  • Oversee and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for business entities, high-net-worth individuals, and multi-state operations.
  • Lead tax planning engagements, identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and guide clients through major decisions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients -- providing proactive advice, performance insights, and strategic direction.
  • Manage and mentor staff: reviewing work, building capabilities, and fostering technical development across the team.
  • Strengthen firm-wide processes, implement best practices, and support modernization and efficiency initiatives.
  • Collaborate with accounting, advisory, and operational teams to deliver an integrated service experience.
  • Conduct and supervise tax research, interpret evolving tax laws, and craft advisory recommendations.
What we're looking for
  • CPA required.
  • 8-12+ years of progressive tax experience, ideally in public accounting with an advisory-heavy focus.
  • Strong leadership presence -- someone who communicates clearly, builds trust, and leads with integrity.
  • Mastery in tax planning for pass-through entities, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Ability to translate complex tax concepts into clear, actionable advice for business owners.

This is more than a tax management position -- it's the chance to step into a respected advisory role where your expertise helps drive the success of clients and the continued evolution of the firm.
