The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager for a tax-focused leadership role involving tax review and planning, client advisory services, workflow coordination, staff development, and operational collaboration.

This role works closely with leadership and accounting staff to coordinate:

  • Tax projection and advisory workflows

  • Accounting and bookkeeping workflows

  • Collaboration between accounting and tax teams to help ensure accurate, tax-ready financials and efficient client service

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys client relationships, mentoring staff, improving workflows, and participating in firm operations and decision-making.

We are intentionally hiring with long-term succession in mind and are seeking someone interested in becoming a future owner/partner of the firm. For the right candidate, we anticipate a realistic 3-5 year path toward partner/ownership consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare individual, business, fiduciary, and related tax returns

  • Manage client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor

  • Assist with tax planning, projections, and advisory services

  • Coordinate advisory, projection, accounting, and bookkeeping workflows

  • Mentor and support bookkeeping, accounting, and tax staff

  • Review staff work and help maintain quality control

  • Assist with workflow management and scheduling during tax season

  • Research and resolve tax and accounting issues

  • Participate in operational discussions and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum 7 years of recent public accounting experience

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation

  • Strong experience with individual and business tax returns

  • Experience reviewing returns and working directly with clients

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff

  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial statements

  • Experience coordinating workflows or leading teams

  • Experience with:

  • UltraTax CS

  • QuickBooks Online

  • Karbon

  • Interest in using AI and technology tools to improve workflow and client service

  • Multi-state tax experience is a plus
