Job description

Amentum is seeking a 3rd shift Facility Maintenance Technician III for our facility operations & maintenance team in Decatur, IL
  • Typical work hours are 10 pm - 6:30am; hours may vary based on business demand
  • Overtime and weekend hours may be scheduled to support our customer.

In this role you will work under general supervision performing tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity. You will rely on your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Responsibilities:
  • Reviews service requests for repairs and maintenance, determines nature of problem, and recommends appropriate solutions.
  • Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
  • Coordinates work with outside contractors.
  • Assures code and building standards are met.
  • Performs repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains facility systems.
  • Performs work based on dispatched service or daily/weekly work schedules.
  • Reviews work as required to document specific needs (materials, supplies, instructions, etc).
  • Assists in the movement of furniture, materials, and equipment as required.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Works with or oversees subcontractor activities as directed by supervisor or work schedule.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in an area of specialization.
  • Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • This position may require a valid Driver's License.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
  • This position will require overtime, various shifts, weekends, holidays and alternative work schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in industrial technology or certificate from an industrial electrical course
  • Experience working as a licensed electrician
  • Knowledge of lighting, lighting control and commercial systems
  • Experience installing rigid conduit and EMT up to 3 inches
  • Working knowledge of NEC, sizing wire and transformers, calculating conduit fill
  • Experience troubleshooting and replacing 3 phase motors up 60hp
  • Experience with a CMMS or Maintenance Management System (i.e. Maximo, MP2, etc.)
  • NFPA-70E training preferred

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
