Casper is seeking an experienced Indirect Senior Tax Accountant to join the finance team. The Indirect Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for indirect tax compliance by ensuring returns and other requirements are filed and paid timely and accurately.

When you’re not catching zzz’s, this is what you’ll do...

  • Assist Tax Manager with analysis and documentation of tax implications of business planning issues
  • Manage various state business filings, local tax registrations, property tax filings, sales/use tax returns
  • Assist with projects including audit assistance, research, tax planning, problem resolution with state agencies and tax projections
  • Own month-end close processes for tax-related general ledger accounts with support from the general ledger accounting team
  • Actively engage with a broader group of non-tax personnel within the Company, including IT teams in support of sales tax systems and priorities
  • Keep abreast of and provide analysis for tax law developments to assist in planning Company activities including implementation for potential tax planning opportunities, as appropriate
  • Assist parent company with the inputs required for income tax calculations and returns
  • Support company-wide compliance for both state/local tax credits and incentives and other miscellaneous regulatory requirements

Our dream candidate is/has…

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience including tax consulting and compliance experience in a Big Four public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department
  • Ability to manage large data sets to validate and calculate tax liabilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP and Sales and Use Tax
  • Ability to research and communicate technical tax issues to senior management, and prepare and maintain relevant and organized work papers and memorandum
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • This is a hybrid role, requiring that you work 4 days per week from our Richmond, VA office

Targeted Annual Base Salary Range: $98,000-115,000 USD
