Job description


Cetera is seeking a Senior Tax Associate - Part Time who is a talented Tax Preparer (Preferred: CPA or Enrolled Agent, or candidate for either) with strong values and an entrepreneurial mindset, who will contribute to the growth and direction of our dynamic tax team. You will work alongside our local tax team to develop and scale our domestic tax preparation, compliance, and tax planning offering while partnering with our wealth team with the goal of creating a more holistic and comprehensive solution for clients through the creation of interdependence between these two complementary service lines. This is a hybrid position that will report to the Cypress, TX office location.
What will you do:
• Preparation of federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts.
• Review and analysis of tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance with government regulations.
• Apply functional knowledge to understand potential tax issues and participate in tax planning.
• Assist with identifying and implementing tax savings strategies for clients.
• Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and to explain tax laws and regulations.
• Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team on both non-recurring and ongoing projects.
• Train junior Tax Associates in preparing tax returns for clients based on accepted company standards.
• Develop and revise company processes and procedures to ensure a consistent client experience and achievement of predetermined SLA.
• Monitor Key Performance Indicators for Tax business and coach team members to greater achievement.
• Develop and edit correspondence (IRS or otherwise), memoranda, and other client deliverables as needed.
• Client Bookkeeping and payroll as needed.
• Continuous learning to keep up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations.
• Partner with Planning Partner FPCs and FSAs to identify Wealth Management opportunities.
• Other job duties as defined.
What you need to have:
• Ability to work and deliver the quality product under tight timeframes
• Excellent communication skills must be a team player
• Strong analytical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Active CPA license is preferred, but CPA candidate obtaining their license would be acceptable, EA would also be acceptable
• 3-5 recent years of experience preparing federal individual, fiduciary and small business (Corporate; S-Corp; Partnerships) tax returns in the public accounting industry
What is nice to have:
-Experience with small businesses & high net worth individuals
-High volume tax preparation and customer facing professionalism
-Good knowledge of technology & systems used by accounting firms
Travel Requirements: Up to (5%)
Compensation:
This is a non-exempt hourly role that ranges from $25/Hr. to 32 / hr., plus competitive performance-based compensation package. Compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific office location. Compensation ranges may differ in differing locations due to cost of labor considerations.
