Job description

Electromechanical Assembler

Job Description

We manufacture high-performance, adjustable-speed permanent magnet AC motors for aerospace, military, specialty, and general-purpose industrial applications. As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for assembling, inspecting, testing, and troubleshooting industrial electric motor components and assemblies. This position requires a high level of ownership and skill development, as you will build products from start to finish using blueprints, specifications, precision measuring tools, and quality-testing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Complete bench assembly of electric motors and related components from start to finish.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Take ownership of the entire assembly process rather than performing one repetitive assembly-line operation.
  • Assemble, fit, align, and inspect mechanical components and subassemblies.
  • Utilize hand and power tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, drills, grinders, and other assembly tools.
  • Use precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to verify specifications.
  • Conduct in-process quality inspections and testing throughout the assembly process.
  • Troubleshoot and correct out-of-spec conditions discovered during testing and inspection.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, measurements, and production activities.
  • Operate overhead cranes when required for material handling and component movement.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with problem-solving efforts.
  • Collaborate with team members while working independently to meet production goals.
  • Follow all safety and quality standards.

Essential Skills

  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Previous experience as a mechanical assembler in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with bench assembly.
  • Hands-on experience using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, torque wrenches, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to perform precision mechanical assembly work.
  • Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving experience.
  • Experience identifying and correcting quality issues during assembly.
  • Industrial maintenance, maintenance technician, or repair Overhead crane experience.
  • Experience with electric motors, rotating equipment, pumps, generators, or similar products.
  • Entry-level machining experience or familiarity with manual mills.
  • Interest in learning frame assembly and machining operations through long-term training and mentorship opportunities.

Why Work Here?

Join a stable, growing manufacturing operation with multiple openings. Enjoy the opportunity to learn specialized electric motor manufacturing and take diverse work with hands-on ownership of the finished product. Be part of a small-team atmosphere where employees make a visible impact and benefit from long-term career growth through cross-training and skill development.

Work Environment

Work in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility that provides a comfortable year-round working environment. Join a small-shop manufacturing environment with approximately 9 employees on the production floor and cross-training opportunities across multiple departments, including Rotor Assembly, Sub-Assembly, and Frame Assembly. Benefit from the opportunity to learn from experienced technicians and participate in long-term knowledge transfer initiatives. Experience a true bench assembly environment where technicians assemble motors from start to finish. Our collaborative culture values teamwork, humility, coachability, and continuous learning. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with flexible start times between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, including unpaid 30-minute lunch and two paid 15-minute breaks.
