Position Description Definition Incumbents are responsible for providing strategic leadership and project management oversight for capital improvement projects and maintenance of existing facilities. As on-site representatives of LVMPD, incumbents manage the work of contractors involved in the design and engineering of construction projects; manage the work of building contractors; manage the planning, scheduling, and performance of maintenance activities for all LVMPD and/or County-owned buildings, facilities, infrastructure and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Additionally, the incumbent manages the daily operations, personnel, and strategic initiatives of the Project's Team and Supply sections within the Administrative Operations Bureau. Distinguishing Characteristics This position serves at the pleasure of the Sheriff and is not subject to the competitive requirements of the Civil Service Rules of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Minimum Qualifications/Position-Specific Conditions Best Candidates Will Have: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Facilities Management, Drafting, Architectural Design, Engineering, or a related area, or equivalent. A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience managing construction projects, including managing the work of contractors involved in construction design, engineering, facility construction, and facility maintenance. Experience should include contract management, electrical, mechanical, and structural systems and repairs; planning, prioritizing, and supervising the work of staff, preferably in a public sector organization.

Current certification as a Certified Construction Manager issued by the American National Standards Institute; or comparable professional certifications in construction management issued by an accredited college or university. Knowledge of standards and requirements associated with the American Corrections Association (ACA), Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards as they apply to correctional, detention, and public facilities. Knowledge of supply chain management, including inventory control, purchasing, and warehouse operations.

Experience with team building, handling conflict, and employee disciplinary issues. Proficient analytical, organizational, auditing, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Ability to prioritize tasks, meet multiple deadlines, and assume new tasks and ad-hoc projects with an increased level of difficulty. A propensity to be accurate and detail-oriented. Demonstrate initiative, motivation, dependability, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Participate in the LVMPD Mental Wellness Program. Be full duty at the time of job offer with no restrictions. Flexible with schedule and work hours; work any shift, weekend, holiday, and overtime when needed.

Within 14 days after initial hire, undergo annual tuberculosis testing/screening per NRS, and every 12 months thereafter. Employees who are past positive testers must provide medical documentation of testing/treatment records. Personal Appearance: While on duty and/or representing the Department, uniformed or otherwise, all employees will be neat and clean in their appearance in public.

Employees are prohibited from attaching, affixing, or displaying objects, articles, or jewelry on or through the nose, tongue, eyebrow, or other exposed body part, except the ears for females, while on duty. Employees are prohibited from stretching or "gauging" their earlobes. All jewelry implants will not be exposed or visible while on duty.

Tattoos or branding will not be exposed or visible while on duty and/or representing the Department. Such markings must be covered by clothing. Markings that cannot be covered by clothing must be covered using neutral-toned bandages or patches except for hands, neck, head, or face tattoos.

Makeup is not permissible to cover a tattoo. Tattoos or branding anywhere on the body that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or contain sexually explicit material are prohibited. A polygraph examination can be stressful and may affect existing medical or psychological conditions or ongoing treatment. Candidates are encouraged to consult with their personal physicians to discuss whether the polygraph will affect a condition or treatment and then follow the guidance of their medical professional. The background investigation takes approximately 90 to 120 days to complete.
