Job description

Position Overview

A leading national electrical contractor is seeking an Electrical Assistant Project Manager to join its Dallas, TX operation supporting large-scale, complex electrical construction projects.


This position sits at the intersection of Project Management and Estimating, with a significant focus on change management, cost estimating, and change order pricing throughout the project lifecycle.


The APM will work closely with Project Managers, Estimating, and Field Operations to evaluate scope changes, develop accurate pricing, understand labor and material impacts, and help protect the financial performance of active projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with the planning, execution, financial management, and successful delivery of large-scale electrical construction projects.
  • Prepare and develop change order pricing, including detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.
  • Perform electrical takeoffs and cost estimates for project changes, additional work, and evolving project requirements.
  • Work closely with Project Management, Estimating, and Field Operations to validate labor requirements, material quantities, productivity assumptions, and overall pricing.
  • Assist with tracking and managing change requests, change orders, project costs, budgets, and financial exposure.
  • Maintain accurate documentation supporting change orders, pricing, contracts, project correspondence, and cost impacts.
  • Support procurement and material management, including RFQs, purchase orders, submittals, long-lead equipment, and material tracking.
  • Assist with project scheduling, manpower tracking, cost reporting, forecasting, and overall project controls.
  • Track project milestones and assist in preparing project status and financial reports for Project Managers and senior leadership.
  • Visit project sites as needed to understand field conditions, verify scope, and support accurate estimating and change management.
  • Assist with project closeout, as-builts, documentation, and final financial reconciliation.


Position Qualifications

  • 2+ years of construction experience, preferably within electrical construction.
  • Experience supporting healthcare/hospital, data center/mission critical, or large-scale commercial electrical projects is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical cost estimating, change order pricing, or project cost management is highly preferred.
  • Ability to perform or review electrical takeoffs and understand labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost impacts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam required; experience with Accubid or similar electrical estimating software is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting complex Design-Build or large-scale electrical construction projects preferred.
  • Strong analytical and financial aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Project Management, Estimating, Field Operations, and client teams.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple pricing requests, project priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
