What is a task force manager?

Task Force Managers are professionals who are temporarily assigned to lead special projects or teams within an organization, often to address specific challenges, implement new initiatives, or manage transitions. They coordinate cross-functional teams, set goals, establish timelines, and ensure the successful completion of the assigned tasks. Their role is critical during periods of change, such as mergers, restructurings, or the rollout of new systems. Task Force Managers typically have strong leadership, project management, and communication skills. They may return to their regular roles or be reassigned once the project concludes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a task force manager?

To thrive as a Task Force Manager, you need strong project management skills, leadership experience, and a background in the relevant industry or sector, often supported by a bachelor's degree or higher. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring that task forces achieve their objectives efficiently and effectively within tight deadlines.

Task Force Hotel Manager

Lark Hospitality

Portsmouth, NH • On-site

$90K/yr

Full-time

Re-posted 23 days ago

Job description

The Lifestyle
  • 100% Travel: You are a nomad by design. Assignments can range from two weeks to four months.
  • On-Call Flexibility: You must be prepared to travel to your next destination, sometimes with very short notice.
  • Operational Excellence: You provide the "bridge" that keeps our hotels running seamlessly.

Pay will be based on assignment and paid weekly. Range -$1,500-$2,000/week based on experience. Please note- the rate is posted as an annual salary that is based on 52 weeks of consistent work. There may be periods of time where there is not a need for task force. This could cause a break in pay.
What You'll Do
  • Lead with Empathy: Enter new environments and immediately build trust with existing teams. You aren't just a manager; you are a mentor and a collaborator.
  • Problem Solve: Identify operational bottlenecks or service gaps upon arrival and implement swift, effective solutions.
  • Rooms Management: Oversee the heart of the house, ensuring housekeeping, front office, and guest services meet Lark's premium standards.
  • F&B Support: While Rooms is the priority, at some of our properties you may ideally lend your expertise to our Food & Beverage outlets to ensure a cohesive guest experience.
  • Culture Carrier: Represent the Lark Hotels brand and values, ensuring the local team feels supported and connected to the larger organization.

What You Bring
  • Experience: 3-4 years of managerial experience in a hotel setting is required.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong background in Rooms Management; a solid understanding of F&B operations is a significant plus.
  • Education: High School diploma required. If you've completed college coursework in Hospitality or Hotel Management, we'd love to hear about it.
  • Adaptability: You are unfazed by new environments and can "hit the ground running" on day one.
  • Emotional Intelligence: You lead with a willingness to connect and understand the human element of hospitality.

Why Lark?
Lark Hotels creates "un-hotel" experiences-spaces that are as individual as the people who stay in them. As a Task Force Manager, you are the glue that holds these experiences together. If you love the hospitality industry but want to trade the desk for the open road, this is your next move.
